So…my local schools won’t teach my kids that President Obama was a gay prostitute, the federal government is socialist, Islam is not a religion, the Boy Scouts are a homosexual organization, and that dinosaurs walked with humans???
I’m going to have to do that myself?? Then it really is true: our education system is failing us.
All kidding aside, Ms. Bruner sounds like she herself is a product of the Texas Educational system.

I’m sold on this organization and am thankful they’re fighting to good fight in Texas. Bravo to them.

This is so disappointing. She represents Texas values better than any other Texan.
We have to forgive and ignore ignorant people like Mary Lou Bruner. We have to be tolerant of angry, bitter hateful people saying evil things as long as they are not committing crimes.
Many factors including mental illness, religion, dementia, etc. can cause pathological behaviors such as this. We don’t know whether it was illness or her upbringing and environment in Texas that caused her to become like this.
Mary Lou Bruner was probably was raised in the South by parents who were racist, bigoted and lacked basic human values and were uncultured. Given her specific choice of language it is possible that she may have been sexually abused or that her family was employed in the sex industry.
Many of repugnant religious conservatives like her are home schooled. I also am willing to bet she considers herself a good christian, is a regular church goer, who goes on her knees in front of jesus and comes out ugly on the inside but inspired to spout ignorance, hate and bigotry.
