He’s holding a shoe, presumably one of the shoes the victim was wearing when she showed up. Possible reasons her shoes are relevant to the case:
a) Victim claims the attacker reached “down” to tear off her blouse, but when wearing these 4" platform heels she is actually taller than Mr. Giannini and so he couldn’t have reached “down”.

Technically it IS his job to defend his client to the best of his ability. Now his closing arguments may have been unethical but you can’t be surprised about what the Defense Attorney has done. He’s not the first attorney to make such deplorable remarks.
