Old Carnival Cruz just doesn’t get it, does he?

NFL players protesting the national anthem Monday

C’mon TPM. They’re not protesting the national anthem, they’re protesting the police indiscriminately killing black people.

Cruz should be protesting the fact no one cares what he says.

Even though I’m a Bears fan, I keep finding new reasons to buy Kaep’s jersey #thankyouted

Sigh

Though she likely had her reasons for tweeting that, Fred Upton is Kate’s uncle.

That he is a Cubs fan is his fault.

To all the athletes who have made millions in America’s freedom: stop insulting our flag, our nation, our heroes. https://twitter.com/jalenrose/status/775124510727110656 …

How in the world are the flag, our nation, and our heroes being insulted by the fact that NFL players are peacefully, quietly protesting the oppression of black Americans? Isn’t the real insult the fact that here we are 150 years or so after the Emancipation Proclamation and we, as a country, haven’t progressed much further, that we still have such a mighty long way to go? Or, is this like calling out racism, and the real problem isn’t the racism/oppression but those who seek sunlight as a disinfectant?

OT, but is it just me, or is the TPM site being kinda quirky today?

It won’t let me in to some of the posted LiveWire threads, saying I’m not a Prime member.

I’m afraid that TPM has been completely assimilated into the MSM Collective. Resistance is futile!

when explaining the press response to the Sunset Strip demonstrations (his words), Micky Dolenz once said that reporters covering it had a hard time spelling demonstration, so the word ‘riot’ was simply easier to type out. Though its not the writer’s fault, it wouldn’t be surprising if just claiming that the protests were about the national anthem was a lot easier to explain as opposed to…

Here’s an idea - why don’t we boycott teams that use threat of relocation to extort public subsidies for new stadiums?

Yeah, America “lets” black athletes and entertainers get compensated just as long as they run, sing, dance, and throw and catch while being quiet.

You have lost your Prime tag in my browser…

Right, but I’m not a Prime member… Haven’t had this happen before.

Rafael’s quite the Constitutional scholar … in a Green-Eggs-and-Ham sort of way.

Crux, I am neither rich nor am I spoiled, what I am is a Vietnam Vet and I say get bent, I did not get shot three times for your type of faux patriotism. It seems to me that those that scream the loudest about “patriotism” seem to be the same folks who did everything possible to not serve when it was their turn.

Arrrrrghhh! That’s been driving me insane and I couldn’t put my finger on it, but you just did. It’s this idea that somehow benevolent, white America has been kind enough to allow these young men to be paid handsomely for a sport they worked their entire lives to become the best of the best. It requires years and years of sacrifice and hard, back breaking work to make it to the NFL. No matter how rich these guys are today, nobody gave them anything. They earned it.

I am so sick of these fraudulent FKs who thing the NFL = military = fought for the flag = boycott…listen up ahole. THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES that you swore to uphold protects us ALL, not just the ones you ‘agree’ with. You KNOW that but have chosen the douche route…‘I’m gonna quote a supermodel’ because…freeeeeeeeddddddddddoooooooooommmmmmmmmmm. If you don’t want to support football, don’t. Also, in TEXAS don’t expect to win your seat again.

Also a Vietnam vet. It seems to me that some want to elevate the symbols of our freedom above freedom itself. So, to them it does not matter whether you were willing to sacrifice for your country that defines patriotism, but whether you wear a flag lapel pin . Freedom is not just for those who agree with you. And we should stop worshiping symbols and get down to the business of protecting (and respecting) everyone’s freedom.
