Trump: Cruz is a peacenik. We want people to be always vigilant and kill terrorists/protestors/rapists.
While acknowledging he’s a dangerous dominionist sociopath whom I loathe with all my heart and soul, I gotta say you have to give him a bit of credit. He’s like a TV-show cat burglar—what he does is wrong, we all know that, but he’s so good at it that it can be fun to watch. Like here, he’s obviously read and photographically memorized about two dozen of the most definitive books on acting like a decent person. So now he can turn it on and off like a light switch, the smarmy bastard, be this apostle of reason, as gentle as a parson. He respects the guy, please be respectful in turn, is all he asks. He could just as calmly order the guy spitted and roasted, or thrown to the lions, but today he’s the calm, reasonable anti-Trump. There’s an unholy fascination in the powers you get when you sell your soul, there really is.

Not likely. As you observed Cruz is a slimy crooked television politician. So was Nixon. The difference being that you know it before the election with Cruz and didn’t until after Nixon was elected. You know it now about Cruz as does everyone else. If you vote for him you are voting for that. It was not the case with Nixon.
Cruz will never be POTUS anyway.
