Discussion: Ted Cruz: 'Religious Philosophy In Islamism' Encourages Jihadists To Lie

And if you looks at Islamism, it is a theocratic and political ideology that says they are compelled to use violence and force to murder anyone that doesn’t share their radical faith or to forcibly convert them

Wow… so much for the idea that we’re fighting “radical Islam”. I have been arguing with old friends on social media this week about these crazy ideas that most Muslims are terrorists. Now I see where they get those ideas. What an a-hole.

Cruz is coaching from an old, time tested playbook:

Labor struggles were not the only conflicts Italian immigrants faced. During the years of the great Italian immigration, they also had to confront a wave of virulent prejudice and nativist hostility.
As immigration from Europe and Asia neared its crest in the late 19th century, anti-immigrant sentiment soared along with it. The U.S. was in the grips of an economic depression, and immigrants were blamed for taking American jobs. At the same time, racialist theories circulated in the press, advancing pseudo scientific theories that alleged that “Mediterranean” types were inherently inferior to people of northern European heritage. Drawings and songs caricaturing the new immigrants as childlike, criminal, or subhuman became sadly commonplace. One 1891 cartoon claimed that “If immigration was properly restricted, you would never be troubled with anarchism, socialism, the Mafia and such kindred evils!”
Attacks on Italians were not limited to the printed page, however. From the late 1880s, anti-immigrant societies sprang up around the country, and the Ku Klux Klan saw a spike in membership. Catholic churches and charities were vandalized and burned, and Italians attacked by mobs. In the 1890s alone, more than 20 Italians were lynched.
One of the bloodiest episodes took place in New Orleans in 1891. When the chief of police was found shot to death on the street one night, the mayor blamed “Sicilian gangsters” and rounded up more than 100 Sicilian Americans. Eventually, 19 were put on trial and, as the nation’s Italian Americans watched nervously, were found not guilty for lack of evidence. Before they could be freed, however, a mob of 10,000 people, including many of New Orleans’ most prominent citizens, broke into the jail. They dragged 11 Sicilians from their cells and lynched them, including two men jailed on other offenses. Italians worldwide were outraged, but the U.S. press generally approved of the action. It was the largest single mass lynching in U.S. history.
Anti-immigrant sentiment continued until the 1920s, when severe restrictions on immigration were put into place by the U.S. Congress. When this legislation passed, the great era of Italian immigration came to an end.

There is a religious philosophy in Islamism that encourages them to lie to carry out jihad

There is such a principle, I’ve read, but Cruz has it exactly backwards. Christians in certain places and times, such as the crusades, root out Muslims and kill them. There is a rule that apparently even most Muslims are not aware of from those times which says Allah will forgive you for denying Islam if it is in order to save your life.

So, in short, it is a rule saying you can lie to save your life, and not at all that one can lie in order to persecute others.

The many religionist settlers to this continent sure did one hell of a lot of taking what was not theirs, even long after treaties were agreed upon and signed. The Vatican owns a few Queen Mary-sized ships-load of stolen artwork and other artifacts from around the world. I personally have witnessed a family use all the legal maneuvers available to them to gain access to a gay man’s estate that should have gone to his lifelong partner when the man died from AIDS. The mother directed the lawyer to invoke religion into the case as often as possible. I witnessed this sordid story as a medical assistant to the Primary Care Physician for whom I worked. It was my job to be the liaison, handle all the copying of medical records, release originals to the court, etc. This was back in the '80s, way before most couples ever thought of the need for legal marriage. It was very frustrating to watch and listen to the sheer animosity that mother had for her dead son and the way he lived. She was a religionist bitch and proud of it. At that time, California had no laws to help shield surviving partners - nor did San Francisco. That said, the large majority of what I witnessed from most of the partners, friends and most family members was nothing short of amazing love and at least a big effort to understand and comprehend what was happening. I can still remember some of those mothers helping to care for their dying sons – they are the real heroes in my book … them, the friends and partners. Many nurses and physicians as well.

This is a popular idea among the right wing idiots who comment on internet sites. They often point to this idea that Muslims have a free pass to lie.

One wonders how delusional one has to be to think that lying is something special to Muslims. It is certainly true that it is possible for Muslims to lie, since Muslims are human beings and human beings lie. But it is really hard to get into the mindset that thinks some kind of special evidence is needed to raise the possibility, or that this differentiates Muslims from anyone else.

Says noted scholar on the Islamic religion, Ted Cruz…

If he’s talking about taqiyya (that’s usually what they are referring to), that’s a Shia practice, and it doesn’t actually mean what they think it means in any case. But ISIS is Sunni. They are trying to kill each other.

It’s pretty rich when these two assholes are on TV accusing someone of lying. I guess it takes one to know one.

I’m guessing Cruz thinks a “peacemaker” is something built by Raytheon.

So what’s your excuse, Teddy?

Ted Cruz and the large majority of the others do not believe in any afterlife or any kind of merciful god. They aren’t concerned about any consequences for lying, thieving and grifting. I find it really sad and sick they use faith in such a manner. Speaking as an agnostic, I’ve known so many good and loving people who are true followers of Christ’s teachings – very kind, helpful people who do not use fear of any others for their own advantage.

Never mind the Syrians. What about the Jesuits?

Sure explains Pope Francis and his secret socialism.

Right you are…I just wasn’t thinking. Catholics, particularly, stole most of South America in the name of the Pope.

Cruz is a talk show guest. His poll numbers are stuck below 12%. He’s looking for a new gig. No one in Washington will stand near him.

Next stop- - - filling in for Hannity on holidays, then a weekend evening gig on FOX, maybe with Huck in the other chair! Then, maybe an AM slot on an AM hate radio station in Cincinnati or somewhere like that. (As the Big Guy at WKRP would say, "we’re the 4th largest station in the 11th largest market)
