Discussion for article #247074
They could save a lot of money if they simply locked Snyder’s ass up.
How many feet of lead pipe in Flint could be replaced for $2.7 million?
It’s the GOP way. Leave the taxpayers for the bill after you fly the government into the side of the mountain.
It’s a twofer.
Well, let’s see: Poisoned untold thousands of young children, potentially disabling them for life. Cost to Michigan taxpayers, so far: $2.7M – and that’s only the legal fees. What does it cost to care for the thousands of permanently disabled children … for life?
Yeah, Republicans are fiscal conservatives and all about family. Snyder and his henchmen need to be behind bars. I hope the feds put them up river for a very long (and hard) time. My thoughts are with the victims of this deliberate poisoning and their families.
Damn. That’s $2.7 million that can’t be used for legal fees to pursue some obviously unconstitutional law all the way up to the Supreme Courtlet [if you want to be original, I don’t think anyone has tried “no abortion clinics within 20,000 feet of a roadway, to protect patients from tailpipe emissions”].
Well, just as long as it is the Michigan taxpayer that are paying these fees, I’m good. I mean, they elected this guy. They own him. In fact, Michigan should pay for the infrastructure, too–If the rest of us bail them out, the same old thing will happen again.
Bitely said the attorney general’s investigation is “not connected in any way” to Snyder’s administration and is not “subject to the monitoring of the administration.”
Yeah, yeah, yeah…that’s bullshit. They not only are not going to monitor the administration, they’ll take a blind eye to what Snyder did that led up to the disaster he created under his regime, They’ll help him find a way to shift the blame to some low level numbnut who’s already left government.
Our attorney general wants to run for governor of the State next, when Snyder’s term is up. As a Republican, he can’t very well do that by going after the sitting Governor and then getting support from the party muckety-mucks that put Snyder in office. He needs them way too much. He’ll do whatever he has to in order to make sure everything falls in line with his ultimate goal. Attorney General Schuette is a political opportunist and a hard right Republican. Republicans in the state want to see that kind of swing to the right continue. What they need to do is to get a truly independent investigation going, and not the kind they’re currently going ahead with, which will help to bury the most damaging aspects of this catastrophe.
Watergate 2.0?
The State has already put $2.7M aside for a legal fight, but where’s the money to fix the problem that led to the legal fight? Again, this is what you get when you elect Republicans that don’t believe in government.
Well, the solution to this problem is obvious: Cut money from schools, health care, infrastructure, and maybe even Oxygen in order to cover the douche-bag’s expenses. Too bad it can’t come out of the incomes of those who voted for him.
Too bad the governor’s party isn’t on the hook for these fees. And every other state-level instance of public malfeasance, criminal negligence, incompetence, deliberate traffic jams, etc.
Maybe it’s time for states to get to work amending their constitutions. Legal fees incurred by incompetent or malicious governance may not be charged to the state, and must be billed to the appropriate administrator’s reelection fund and/or his/her party.
One can dream, eh?
I’m cool with Michigan tax payers for the legal fees.
The latter is howeva everyone’s problem.
.infrastructure: it’s a beautiful thing
This is absurd. Taxpayers pay good money to support the Attorney General’s office. We should not have to pay twice. This is just more corporate pork transferred to Snyder’s friends simply to protect the governor’s image. Much the same as Governor Christie did when the Bridgegate scandal hit his office, he issued a no-bid contract to his lawyer friends.
Job creation, GOP style. It shouldn’t take a very big tax cut to pay the legal fees.
Governor Christie gets in trouble. Governor Christie handpicks attorneys that donated to him to investigate him.
Governor Snyder gets in trouble. Governor Snyder handpicks attorneys that donated to him to investigate him.
And we wonder why so many people gravitate toward Trump and Sanders?
Resign.
As usual taxpayers getting taken for a ride coming or going… quick let’s vote another .01% tax reduction package they after all will be hurt by being asked to help pay for our fuckup…
Didn’t they make the switch to the Flint River water to save money? Beware the Republican whose going to save you money, its really going to cost you.
