Come on lady. It’s one thing to say, ā€œI lied in sworn depositions because my lawyer told me to.ā€ It’s another altogether to claim you lied on national TV, anonymously, to Oprah freaking Winfrey!

I’ll believe it when I see the vote. Remember for the GOP party trumps country.

I’m personally in favor of calling all of them ā€œdickā€.

It would be perfectly appropriate to say, ā€œThat dick, XYZā€ in reference to any of his supporters, nominees, and cabinet members.

Not fast enough. We got DeVos, Sessions…

The guy who mistreats and exploits his employees is likely the guy who abuses his wife. Emotional abuse is as destructive as physical abuse. Just saying.

Doubt it was a payment, more like a threat it would seem.

LOL, my ā€œJeff’/Scottā€ confusion was over the USEPA nominee. I went on a bit of a tangent (once again) and you didn’t keep up. Sad!

I stand corrected. May I sit down now, sir?

Thank dog for Oprah. If only Mark Burnett had released outtakes and other incriminating videos on the YamMan in Chief, we might not be in this mess in the first place.

Could be she got paid nothing. He may have changed and seen the error of his ways with therapy, and she is no longer afraid of him and yet beating herself up for standing up then to the abusive Puzder. A victim is always a victim even decades later. These family violence situations are so fraught with complexity. I was a judicial officer for over 32 years and handled literally tens of thousands of DV assault cases and restraining order requests.

Yes it was sort of a cheap shot. I’m curious what percentage of the time does the above outcome happen?

He’s a billionaire CEO lawyer who is active in the anti-choice movement as well as being opposed to overtime pay and increases in the minimum wage. Something tells me his domestic behavior may not have improved that much, although it may have become more sophisticated. In my (thank goodness limited) experience, sometimes if the abuser just becomes a little less abusive the victim thinks that’s wonderful.

This photo is incorrect. Clearly a still from ā€˜Tootsie’.

No, not a cheap shot at all. He may have indeed paid her off with a generous divorce settlement or by simply agreeing to pay her no hassle child support. Many dv perps refuse to do even that. Many dv cases are indeed he said she said like the ones where someone threatens harm only out of earshot or sight of a witness, for example with fists, a knife or a gun.

The thing that sets this apart from many dv cases is the visible physical evidence of the crime, injuries I assume the police documented in photos. There were visible injuries to the face and back including ruptured discs that would be also evident in medical reports. So the fact that she recanted her statements would pale in comparison to the other evidence. As they say ā€œa picture is worth (much more than) a thousand wordsā€ of inconsistent denial re what the pictures actually show.
