Discussion: 'Swamp Creature' Mask Emerges Behind Interior Secretary Nominee During Hearing

Not in Texas!

Many years ago, a friend and I went out for dinner on Halloween evening, dressed in our costumes. One of two police officers, who were sitting in a nearby booth, approached our booth and asked my friend to remove his mask (my costume had no mask), because the mask made the officer “uncomfortable.” I know, he merely asked. But, it was the kind of request which, if turned down, would lead to bigger problems for us. So my friend complied. This was at a restaurant in Austin, Texas.

Wellll, thing is, I can empathize with a cop’s paranoia about the world. A person with a mask can’t be identified after an incident. Wouldn’t necessarily see it as anything but that. I’d prefer cops left you alone about anything not actually a crime but like I say, willing to give the benefit of the doubt on that.
