Not news. The kill level didn’t reach the faux concern level.
Just what we need: cover band spree killers.
Rats. Guess that means no thoughts and prayers today
Wow. We’re in Reno every year and stay at the El Dorado. I know exactly where this happened.
No injuries were reported.
See? Loose gun laws aren’t dangerous at all.
Monkey see, monkey do
But were the guns safe?
Time for thoughts and prayers.
What, only one dead. Skip it.
Upside - maybe we can talk about gun control?
Just kidding.
You sure you want to admit that.
Son had a baseball tournament there a couple years back. On the whole, what an appalling place. Not as bad as LV, but the “legacy” casinos have so fucked up the downtown that short of imploding them all and starting over with some post-modern or, say, Art Deco structures, that the town is forever scarred. A shame as the River Walk area along the Truckee is nice.
He said he had a “System.”
I’m gonna assume the shooter isn’t Muslim since trump hasn’t spilled his load all over Twitter about it
The gunman’s name has not been released. Robinson described him only as a young adult.
Like we don’t know the suspect was male.
Are we still issuing visas to males without subjecting them to extreme vetting?
I hate to harp on this stuff, but the copy cat aspect of people doing mass killings and the killing of celebrities should not be underestimated. There is almost always a copy cat killing or attempt within a month or two of a (relatively ) novel attack. A lot of these guys actually spend some time as fan boys of previous killers and have been known to send fan mail to those few of their idols who end up in prison. Just as people almost always come out of the woodwork after one of these events to tell us that they" knew it was going to happen" or that they “weren’t surprised” these killings can and generally are predicted by at least a few people who either fail to tell anyone who in a position to stop the crime, or more often are ignored when they do. While Gavin De becker’s book The Gift of Fear is said to be a “self help book” (and it is helpful in teaching people to assess risk), it also shows that one can use a simple algorithm to score people relatively accurately in terms of their potential for violence. The book also has some great insights into how the media both encourages copycat crimes and distorts the level and kind of of risk most of us face every day . It’s really worth a read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gift_of_Fear. Also interestingly, I mentioned this guy De becker at a private concealed carry licensing course (a business that depends on ramping up the fear of citizens such that they will believe they need to carry a gun,in this case even while mowing the lawn) and I immediately became surprisingly unwelcome with the instructors…it was like I suddenly took a shit in front of everyone, lol.
