I agree. As neither one stands a chance of getting the nomination, it’s not like they need that much staff. Better to start cutting your loses now. Maybe Perry should call them?

One could easily argue that if you are an operative working for either of these campaigns and you AREN’T emotionally invested to the point of losing your temper with each other, than you probably are in the wrong business.

Let’s face it…if you are working for the Paul staff, you have to be a true believer. It’s a sinking ship, and has been for some time (I would say since before it even launched). The campaign manager is under indictment, so its not really a career builder working there. The fund raising has been abysmal, so the pay can’t be that good. Every “behind the scenes” article I have read describes a really depressed, moribund environment, so it can’t be a fun place to work. (All of which definitely is going to add up to short tempers).

Passion is about the only thing keeping anyone there.

They will be out of work in a few months, and probably drinking together on election night next November, laughing about those crazy moments on the campaign trail.

I see what you mean, but I think that applies more to candidates who are actually, you know, running for President. Which Paul clearly isn’t doing, and which Rubio isn’t doing with respect to the year 2016.

On the other hand, maybe it’s just hard to get good help these days.

Add in the campaign managers for Walker, Huckabee, Christie, Graham, Bush, Kasich, Cruz, etc. etc. It will be a long line indeed–with Rick Perry’s campaign manager FIRST. One!!111!!!11

There is not a legitimate staffer working on any of the campaigns, including Chaffee and Webb’s, that doesn’t believe his/her candidate is legitimately running. They may know that the candidate doesn’t have a chance, but they will believe in what the candidate is saying and want that heard on the campaign trail.

You just don’t get into that business otherwise, even if its a career choice and you want to be the next Axelrod or Rove. You certainly aren’t doing it for the paycheck or job stability.

DISCLAIMER: I would absolutely LOVE to do this sort of work :stuck_out_tongue: Its my own personal bit of crazy, I know.
