Discussion: Supreme Court Rejects N.C. Law Requiring Ultrasound Before Abortion

Well, it’s not like He didn’t give us fair warning! We’ve been in the grips of a late July heatwave for days now. A little meteorological shot across the bow before the coming Bloody Toadpocalypse.

Fortunately one of the Catholics is a woman. American women Catholics aren’t as gung ho against it, especially liberal ones.

Interesting wording from the justices “ideological in intent”–pretty much describes Scalia’s judicial style.

“Justice Antonin Scalia voted to hear the appeal.”

Of course he did, the creepy little perv.

I guess they aren’t afraid of a drought in NC!

Curious Scalia alone dissented.

This is a case that shows the breadth of problems with various abortion regulations, here on free speech grounds.

We must be doing something wrong here in AZ according to Ms Grove’s logic. Yes repubs totally control the state leg but here’s our forecast for today (108 and warmer by Thursday):

Now this is a “heat wave”.

Another indication that Scalia needs to be impeached. He is making his decisions for political reasons, not for reasons of law.

The theological legislating serves two purposes. It keeps their bloodthirsty far right wing happy and it distracts everyone as the corporate wing of the GOP picks everyone’s pockets.

Maybe the bromance started turning cold when Scalia criticized Thomas and his opinion in the matter of the Jerusalem passport dispute, which SCOTUS passed.

Justice Clarence Thomas voted with the majority to strike down the passport provision, but he did not adopt its reasoning. He traded jabs with Justice Scalia, usually an ally.

Justice Scalia wrote that Justice Thomas’s approach would produce “a presidency more reminiscent of George III than George Washington.”

Justice Thomas responded that Justice Scalia’s opinion “about the Constitution’s resolution of conflict among the branches could itself be criticized as creating a supreme legislative body more reminiscent of the Parliament in England than the Congress in America.”

A few years ago, I thought about sending him a box of Canoli’s each week. I should have done it.

Scalia would vote if he could to hear an appeal of the election of Pope Francis and sight Bush vs Gore as his precedent.

Neener, neener, neener!

So does this ruling now apply to the other states that require an unnecessary ultrasound when a women goes in to request an abortion? It would be great if it did. After all Scott Walker thinks the whole ultrasound idea is “cool”.

Well, apparently, the Sun exploded in Georgia. (Or maybe not.)

But… well, you know… message delivered.

“Nice Sun you’ve got there, North Carolina. Shame if anything happened to it…”
