Discussion: Sununu Compares Bergdah's Health To Benghazi YouTube Video

Discussion for article #223413

Sununu said it’s “typical of this White House,” but complained that “so much of the public thinks this President is still cool” and so Obama will “probably get away with it again.” This comment is very telling of the actual Republican mindset. Which seems to be, how come this man won’t crumble? They really don’t give a crap about anyone or anything they have to malign in their desperate agenda to bring him down at all costs. Sad. For us
that these clowns can determine policy.

In other words the Republicans are saying the U.S. should have let a U.S. citizen and soldier sent to war by the United States of America and captured be left to rot as a prisoner being held by the Taliban.

Yes, the Republicans do love the military and soldiers who serve.

The prisoner swap that helped secure the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl
has former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu ® thinking about Benghazi.

Of course, the flat tire he had ti change yesterday got him thinking about Benghazi.

BENGHAZI!!!

Sununu stuck to Fox Not the News this time because he was frightened if he went anywhere else he’d run into a real reporter.

OK, fess up. Whose turn was it to watch Sununu and how did he escape this time?

Sununu was one of Obama’s most effective surrogates in 2012.

Some washed up un-hip dweeb sounds like he’s jealous of the “cool” guy. Really? This is nuts, to paraphrase Boehner.

What idiot message guru in the GOP thinks this whole faux-outrage thing is a good idea?! How can they possibly think this is a fight they should be engaging in?

So John, we should have just left him there? And what if he had died? Would you then be blaming Obama for leaving him there to die? Of course you would have. Your hypocrisy is starting to ooze out of you damn pores

When we decided that the Taliban was a terrorist organization, and not an enemy, we made it all but impossible to actually talk to them.

Now, when we do what countries always do to secure the release of an American POW, we have a right wing that can’t help but attack.

The fact is that to secure the release of a POW, it is natural to exchange other POWs. That is how it is done. The fact that they were released into Qatar is a win-win situation: we secured the release of our POW and reduced out Gitmo population by 5, and these 5 will not return to the battlefield.

“Get away” with what, you bloated moron? “Get away” with saving the life of an American soldier? Or “get away” with bringing home a POW? The GOP has become so batshit and hateful that bringing home a POW is the same as four people’s tragic deaths. Good is bad and bad is good.

I am flabbergasted at the response of the GOP. A uniformed soldier captured by the enemy in a war zone is a POW. I also thought that the justification for holding detainees at Gitmo was the same: these are prisoners of war and therefore not subject to legal review. What possibly could be controversial about an exchange of POWs? Civilized nations have done that for hundreds of years or longer.

Wrong that the soldier was left there so long and wrong on how he was brought home. There is no gray in the mob’s sickness to keep everything black and white. This blather from known hostage takers.

How about maybe we just stop headlining the utterly stupid things that the GOP says? How about it? How about it??

Beat me to it. One of the most effective radio campaign ads I think I’ve ever heard was one with various Republicans insulting the president in the worst, thinly veiled racist terms. The ad ends with the narrator asking a simple question, “if this is what they think of a Harvard graduate, Senator, and first black president, what do they think of you?” Sununu’s voice was all over that ad.

That is what is absolutely amazing me about this whole thing. “Leave no man behind.” It isn’t “Leave no man behind except when…” This is a fundamental belief of the American people. Whole movies have been made to this theme. Saving Private Ryan for example. It is part of who we are as a nation. The idea that some messaging guru thinks this is a winning play is amazing.

Bottom line, first poll that shows them eating the floor because of this will make them stop, but the damage will be done. I really hope they impeach Obama over it before that happens. The House and Senate would be ours in 2014.

Michael Tomasky has an excellent article over at The Daily Beast in which he theorizes this will be bigger than Benghazi and thinks they’re likely to try to impeach him over it.Please proceed.
