Yes, your comment nicely dovetails with the one by @pluckyinky.
I might have a molecule of sympathy for Schmidt and Wallace and their problems with Palinās stupidity and incompetency, except that, even before she was chosen for the GOP VP candidacy, and had only been rumored to be a candidate for Saint Johnās running mate, nearly everyone on this and the other progressive Bolshevik websites were rolling in the aisles at the very thought of her being chosen. I believe the operative phrase being used by most of us at the time was, āOh, Goddesses in Heaven, PLEASE let Sarah Palin be the choice of the GOP for VP!!!ā
We all knew what a fucking moron Palin was, and we all knew that women who truly loved Hillary were not going to turn Republican and vote for McCain/Palin just because Obama got the nomination instead of Clinton. So what was Schmidtās and Wallace excuse for being so mind-bogglingly stupid and unaware?
They just need a polite and proper face for the party. Like a Romney. They ignore the fact the the problems are the base and the policies, not that the president is uncouth. Iād take uncouth in a heartbeat if it delivered universal healthcare.
I record Nicoleās show daily and usually have MSNBC on all day in the background while I work. If these people are faking then most deserve Oscars and Emmys for their flawless work. What Iāve always accepted about them is that they were still ideologically fiscally conservative (what that used to mean) and I donāt expect that to change. Some, like Rubin and Wallace, are probably just Democrats now, but most are still going to be conservatives afterwards. Iām good with that because you can have a debate about ideas with those folks and itās a debate Democrats will win every time.
No surprise to see a Republican throw a fit when faced with reality. This is a clear example of the Oligarchies and Management classes behavior.
This is basic arithmetic. Take out the states that will definitely go Republican and the states that will definitely go Democratic, and you do not have 271 electoral college votes left for Schultz. It really is that simple.
Bill Kristol is the one who was really pushing Palin, and I think Schmidt & Wallace were in too deep to challenge it as it was happening. (Sounds like the switch to Weekend at Bernieās Pence was the same fast last minute push for Trump.) 5 minutes of proper vetting would have made them realize Palin was a mistake from the start. They thought she was attractive and feisty and Iām sure wanted to beat the Dems with a woman. When I see Kristol on MSNBC ā I do not forget!!
Thank you, Ira. Once again, you put us all to shame (well, except for Eustace, maybe!).
I have been screaming about trusting these phony āNever Trumpersā since the ditzy political media started touting their āwokeā brilliance. The Republican Party was Donald Trump decades before Donald Trump entered the White House, and as soon as a Democratic administration gets elected, these supposed Trump haters will revert to their craven ways. āParty before countryā is their modus operandi. I still say if Trump had 60+ approval ratings, they would all be lined up on their knees salivating at the chance to give Donald a hummer.
I really like that āwhat besides his own wallet?ā question. Lots of reporters should begin asking it, often.
The only difference between tRump and the rest of the gop is the veneer. The whole outfit has been racist, ultra wealthy ass kissers since Nixon.
āThey thought she was attractive and feistyā¦ā
LOL! So true! They were so ensconced in their GOP/FoxNews/RW bubble they couldnāt see the moron that stood right before them.
My brother and his wife have a cocker spaniel that is attractive and feisty, but they donāt think sheās qualified to be VP either.
I think weāve come to the part of political evolution where words matter, but policies matter more. Can a candidate articulate their beliefs and positions? Can they at least speak in complete sentences?
And what I see in Republicans theyāre clinging to their dogma and not understanding that dogma has to change when societal changes emerge.
What is pissing Schmidt off is how he fucked up his growing brand by taking big dollars to flack for a billionaireā¦ Iād even come around on Schmidt, finally forgiving him for introducing Sarah Palinās ignorant and ugly viruses to the USA. Still, in the back of my mind, I wondered where he stood once we lost the commonality of our hate for Trump. And know I know. Heās all in for low taxes for the rich and he doesnāt get the need - as a wealthy many - for healthcare for all and free college. Heās a white guy, privileged enough to fly fish and ski and write whenever heās out of work. No sympathy, Steveā¦ luck runs in streaks.
Keep fucking that Schultz Chicken, Steve, because I am almost absolutely sure that your candidate will do at least just as well as Rudy Giuliani did in 2008. Onward and upward to glory, my ex-Palinista!
I have to say we had become Schmidt fans. Iām guessing he was captain of his school debate team. Could he pontificate like no other. Because it was against Trump, we were enjoying it wholeheartedly.
I think his move in with Schultz has been a huge crash and burn for him. He was gaining stature, and seemed like he might become a regular on āThe Circusā with Jon Heilemann and Alex Wagner. Then, this move.
He was dying to get back into the biz. I didnāt expect him to jump on a Dem campaign. I thought he was waiting for the ānewā Republican Party. But now, I believe his reputation is in the tank. That was before this podcast hissy ā about his own podcast. Iām not sure how he picks up the pieces. (Thinking of Ed Schultz.)
I do think Nicole has much more strongly separated from the Republican Party and believe her strong critiques are pretty sincere.
I was thinking that by staging that tantrum and bringing himself a ton of publicity, while also stumping for Schultz at the same time, that actually gives much, much more publicity to Schultz than he otherwise would have received. Yes, Schmidt is anti-t rumpp. No, he is not the only Republican with that sentiment. I would venture that Schmidt just peeled a few more Republicans away from t rumpp and toward Schultz with this strategy. It seems a bit backward, but then again, he is still a Republican. They obviously donāt think like you and me.
Thatās because these people are too stupid or obtuse to understand the concept of āmarginalā tax rates. On the other hand, they may be deliberately misstating the fact that no one would ever pay 70% of their total income in taxes. But thatās just crazy talkā¦
Iām pretty sure Nicolle Wallace said she voted for Hillary.
Snowflake.
Iām sure Schmidt understands it and I havenāt heard him mislead on itāthey dislike the reality of it enough without exaggerating it.
