If I thought Steven King was capable of feeling shame, I would say he should be ashamed of himself. King, who presumes to be Catholic, is a profile in cowardice. He needs to be reminded of the anti-Catholic prejudice that confronted Al Smith and John F. Kennedy during their respective campaigns for the Presidency, and the graceful and elegant responses those courageous candidates gave. JFK’s more recent response, about the oath he took in the military, in the House and then the Senate, and his and his family’s supreme sacrifice during WWII is the more memorable quote. But King’’ ought to be made to read and contemplate Al Smith’s response to the same question, about how un-American it was to essentially question his loyalty, based on his religion…He is doing exactly the same to Reps. Ellison and Carson.

Why do these rightwing scumbags hate our way of life:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
