What’s that about a foolish consistency?
Not that anyone will be surprised, but that ain’t even close to what Bono said.
In character as Mr MacPhisto, he said, “I’m just back from Sweden. I didn’t know how much I’d like the Swedish. Tall, blond, blue eyed… boring. But now the Swedes are beginning to discover their Aryan potential.”
The absurd notion that the Republican Party would in any way shape or form denounce, renounce, or sanction the odious Steve King for his overt white supremacism could only be held by somebody who has never watched a Republican campaign ad at any point in the last quarter century, and certainly in 2018. The party has followed Trump past the point of no return. They are running on whiteness. They’re betting that Republican voters are so malignantly ignorant and cruel that they would vote to cut their own throats, just so long as they could be persuaded that black folks will do the bleeding and feel the pain.
Must be just a coincidence… yeah …
Do the families of over 8,000 Iowans killed fighting fascism in WWII still want a Nazi sympathizer in congress? WTF!? King sure didn’t answer the call when it was his turn. Let somebody else do it I’ll stay and play. Of course he may have had terminal “bone spurs”. His countenance gives the appearance he has terminal constipation.
King and Carl Palidino are of a piece in that both of them are not merely bigots, but actively, malevolently, gleefully, perhaps homicidally, evil. They both perpetually affect an attitude and have an expression that suggests that they’ve murdered people and gotten away with it. Not saying they did. Absolutely not. Just saying I would be unsurprised to wake up and read that they found bodies buried in deep holes on their property.
My wife’s grandmother (from Pennsylvania, not Iowa) was one of the first women Marines. She joined up as soon as the Corps began accepting women in 1943, could light a match with a pistol at 30 paces, and retired as an NCO.
She met her husband, also a Marine (who was disabled for the rest of his life) during the War. Their remains lie side by side in one of our national cemeteries.
I can’t say for sure, because she died during the Obama presidency, but I’m reasonably certain that, given the chance, she would’ve called Steve King a Nazi and punched him in the face.
G-d, I miss her…
Why worry about whether Steve King’s twitter account retweets a white nationalist’s thoughts from time to time, when it regular-tweets a white nationalist’s thoughts every day?
What is especially outrageous that that Steve King is seemingly proud and unapologetic about being such a racist pig.
Yes. So “racists” are any white people who don’t “virtue signal” constantly while racists are now called “Nazis” to differentiate them from the non-racist white people we unfairly lump with the real racists. Right. I should have known this already as part of the secret coded messages all us Leftists use to control society with words, but I guess I fell asleep that day.
They do both exude an odious sadism blended with a twisted self-righteousness.
And a burning, ugly Randall Flagg kind of glee.
I don’t know about finding an actual buried body in the back yard - but LePage also has a bit of that air about him. Like he’s in their minor leagues, but just couldn’t quite reach their pinnacle.
Iowa, Seriously?
You’re catching up with Kansas and Oklahoma in the most pitiful state contest.
I agree with King on one issue; the word “racist” is overused. I prefer “bigot,” “prejudiced asshole,” or “idiot.” (There is only one “race” in my opinion, the human variety.) Voters of Iowa, when will you ever apologize for sending this evil man to Congress?
Anyone who is surprised by King’s antics has been in a coma for the last decade or so.
Nailed it. He’d happily do things if ordered that the other two would do just for fun and just because they could.
Last year, I read Siddhartha Mukherjee’s latest book, The Gene: An Intimate History.
I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys technical (yet engaging) light reads of almost 600 pages.
90% of genetic diversity occurs within so-called “races”; less than 10% occurs between them.
“Race” is an illusion, an artifice created for political, social, or religious ends.
It has no meaning in science, biology, or genetics.
Someday, like anthropomorphic global warming, America will accept this scientific consensus.
Someday…
