Discussion: Steve King: Boehner Canceled My Trip Abroad After DHS Shutdown Fight

Discussion for article #234143

I find it hard to believe that Steve King can be diplomatic.

Where was he supposed to go? To what purpose? He could still go at his own expense, and then he could come back as a seasoned diplomat-legislator to challenge Boehner.

Steve King diplomat? Give me a fucking break - he’s just pissed because his taxpayer funded junket got shitcanned. Of course we all know the vital role Iowa’s 4th District plays on the world stage. If Boehner had any balls he’d yank all those bomb-throwers’ committee assignments, make them move their offices to the crap they give freshmen, and give them the shittiest parking spots in town.

Its not so much Congressman Orange was being vindictive. It was more nobody wanted to be seen sitting next to Goggles.

I’m sorry, but what diplomatic mission? TO WHERE? It’s not even once mentioned in the article, let alone anything the article quotes Captain Cantaloupe as saying. Not only is the where missing, but the who-the-fuck-lives-there-who-would-consider-this-douche-a-diplomat is missing as well.

Edit: In fact, the same glaring omissions are present int he Roll Call article…including the omission of anyone asking him whether he’s just fabricating bullshit and mad that he cant’ go to Aruba or the Caymans for vacation because Boehner kept Congress in session.

I don’t want Steve King representing the US anywhere in the world.

good gawd… even boehner recognized the danger of this moron traipsing around europe as a representative of congress… imagine how all of this chaotic dysfunction is playing out overseas. they must be gobsmacked watching what is going on in washington. and if these assholes are successful (likely) in sinking the negotiations with iran, you can be sure the other parties involved will abandon the u.s. as any kind of leader in international affairs. hopefully, they’ll have the clout to head off the war these gop scumbags are salivating over.

Wouldnt his vote be of more importance than he flying off on some tax payer funded junket

As a public service, I and a few other cantaloupe-calved relatives will arrange for King’s all-expense-paid passage to a couple of barrios I am intimately acquainted with in Ciudad Juarez.

Under no circumstances whatsoever could anything Steve King does be considered a “diplomatic” mission.

He was going to travel to Iran and single-handedly disrupt the negotiations that have been shoved down the throats of decent Muricans by that Kenyan usurper in the WH.

“King’s upcoming diplomatic trip…”

Where could he possibly be going and how many cultures will he insult along the way!

Because Steve King is the first person you would want to send on “a very important diplomatic mission.”

Well, there can’t be that many nations that are whiter than Iowa, so we are starting with a short list of potential destinations.

Working with these people must be like taking a trip through the Mojave Desert in mid-July, with bored, cantankerous children sitting in the back of a car with a broken air-conditioner. All the time, trying to keep your composure as the kids chant “we want a frozen yogurt, and we want it now” from Henderson, Nevada to Flagstaff.*

*I speak from experience.

Nice to see that Boner is actually cracking the whip a bit. Good.

Why, pray tell, would King be making a “diplomatic” trip abroad to begin with? He’s a member of the House of Representatives, not an employee of the State Department. Representatives don’t even have a vote on treaties. He has not business going abroad other than to gain exposure to a country, etc. He has no authority to speak on behalf of the U.S.

What an asshole.

Nice tidbit from the RollCall article:

Yet King still doesn’t come close to paying his annual NRCC dues, said
the same source: “[He] likely wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for
the support of the leadership team and other Republicans who bailed him
out in 2012. He is not a team player in any way, and can’t be expected
to be rewarded with perks like taxpayer-funded overseas trips.”

Sadly, as others have pointed out, there appears to be no information about King’s alleged trip.
