Discussion: Steve Israel Stepping Down As DCCC Chair After Midterm Sweep

First piece of advice to the new head: Act like a proud liberal Democrat and not like a fucking Republican!

Thankfully, I did not have to hold my nose when voting, because here in Missouri we had no Senate or Governorā€™s races, and my Rep. Emanuel Cleaver is a true progressive, and one who constantly calls out the right for their crap, both against this President, and their total lies. Thankfully he won reelection.

We laughed at the right for their little autopsy after the 2012 election, and then doing nothing to change. Well if the Dems do not clean house of ALL leadership after this debacle, then the Dems are no better.

This is not about a power struggle, but about getting people in those positions, who will use a megaphone to keep screaming our message, and vilifying the right for their lies, instead of waiting for someone to stick a camera and microphone in their face, where they meekly garble some comment, like the leaders we have now.

We all need a huge email campaign, letting our party know that we who did vote expect a huge shakeup of leadership in ALL positions in both chambers, and also that if they wonder why so many do not bother to vote, they only need to look at the mess that is our leadership and their message, or lack thereof for their answer.

Pelosi wanted him back??? No wonder the Dems are incompetent at mid-termsā€”abject failure is rewarded.

Hell, letā€™s go all in and make Bob Shrum the new DNC chair, with Martha Coakley, Bruce Braley, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz as his senior aides. Thatā€™s a winning ticket.

ā€œIā€™ll stay in Congress for as long as I believe Iā€™m effective, but Iā€™m not going to occupy a seat in Congress for the sake of having a seat in Congress.ā€

Time for him to sweep himself out. No wonder the Dems got nowhere.

Perhaps his red to blue BS figured into this mess? Donā€™cha think?

Pelosi ā€œinvitedā€ him back, knowing he would decline (this may well have been arranged privately before the formal motions were put in place).

Itā€™s called ā€œsaving faceā€.

Nothing more pathetic than the desire for blood from our own after a loss.

Fair weather fans.

Excuse me, but they are responsible, and if you had volunteered to get out the vote as I did, then maybe you too would understand that Dems are sick of these weak spined, horrible messengers in leadership positions. They are the ones who decided and ordered how these campaigns be run, which was away from our accomplishments as a party, thus allowing the totally false RWNJ and RW media narrative to not only take root to begin with, but to grow to huge proportions.

Corporations would not leave people in power that drive the company towards bankruptcy, as our Dem leadership did to the Dems and this President. It is not fair weather fans. It is expecting the people we vote for to stop being God damned wussies and stand up and fight, and if you think that is what they did in this election, or since this President was elected for that matter, then you are as blind as most right wingers. If you fail in your role, then you step aside and let someone else take over. That is called being an adult in the REAL world. They failed US!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Itā€™s a full-time job. Prebius does his job 365 days a year.

And Little Debbie is next! Buh-bye. Bring back Howard Dean.

Donā€™t let the Door hit you on the way out. Also while I realize Nancy Pelosi raises alot of cash and is a fixture. At some point you need a message and not just raising money. Itā€™s harder to get the DEM base out the door then the GOP base. Do I really need to explain why?

Running away from your party leader the President is not a good campaign message. Shame on the Democrats in Congress for not trying to find away to send a message that did not run away from Obama. That Grimes in Kentucky deserved to lose when she would not admit she voted for Obama. Washington needs less politicians like Grimes regardless of ideology not more people like her. She should have stood up and said ā€œYES I voted for President Obama and I will stand up for all Kentuckians if elected to congress.ā€ People respect people even if they disagree with them if they stand up for their convictions. What? She was going to lose? She still lost! Would Grimes feel better today if she had stood up and admitted she voted for Obama? I bet she would and she would have gotten respect from Obama. Stand UP for yourself and defend your record. Donā€™t runaway like a COWARD.

That would require too much common sense, Remember, these are Post Clinton/ Pre-Clinton Democrats, weā€™re talking about.
For a party famous for its root disorganization, they can organize and act in concert when they need to do so. I suppose that (in their minds) no one told them how important Tuesday was. The worst thing is, it wonā€™t be the Party that suffers. It will be the people who still look to what used to be the old Democratic Party for some sort of hope and Alternatives to this kamikaze ā€œgovernmentā€ they have :elected for themselves.
