Meanwhile, Trump is strapped into the back seat of the car, flailing to climb over to the front and wrest control of the wheel from Bolton, et al.

If anything Trump just wants to slow it down a bit until it’s closer to the election. On the other hand, with all the investigations going he knows they will be in the news for the duration of this term and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get the war going now to over shadow all of his corruption.
What better way to showcase Jerad’s peace plan?

Trump is such an effing blowhard idiot. Pinned down by a reporter on reports of plans to deploy120,000 troops to the Middle East he feigns ignorance of the plan entirely. Says it’s fake news. Then doubles down and basically claims if troops are deployed it won’t be some weanie, effete number like 120,000, it’ll be a helluva lot more than that.

The New York Times reported Monday that top national security officials at the White House were presented last week with an updated plan by acting Defense Secretary Pat Shanahan that “envisions sending as many as 120,000 troops to the Middle East should Iran attack American forces or accelerate work on nuclear weapons.”

“I think it's fake news, OK?” Trump told reporters while leaving the White House Tuesday. “Now, would I do that? Absolutely. But we have not planned for that. ***Hopefully we’re not going to have to plan for that. If we did that, we would send a hell of a lot more troops than that.”***

Maybe along with the troops he’ll send 10,000 attack bald eagles being trained by the CIA to peck the eyes out of ISIS warriors. If Jeanine Pirro claimed knowledge of such a program Trump would be threatening Hassan Rouhani with them today.

Trump will continue with the sabre rattling, but I don’t think Putin is going to let him attack Iran.

With a few minor changes this song is still relevant.

That song made me very nervous in Vietnam. Lots of insecure laughter with that one.

I remember campaigning for Humphrey in '68. Although late to state an anti-war sentiment I had hopes he would end the goddamned thing. Another blown Dem election at a critical junction in our nation’s history.

There is nothing like war for election politics. Planed and orchestrated by our fearless leader.

And they will want to fight until the last American soldier:

While Israel and Saudi Arabia may believe they will benefit in the long run from a US attack on their Iranian foe, it is almost “100 percent” certain that if Washington attacks Iran, Iran will attack both “facilitator” countries in return, according to Foad Izadi, professor of political communication at the University of Tehran.

If the conflict did prompt Tehran to attack Israel and Saudi Arabia, Izadi said the Israelis and Saudis would want to fight Iran “to the last American soldier”

Iraq was pretty much flat, Iran has a mountainous terrain. They have been preparing for an attack and will have Russia’s best surface to air missiles in place to shoot down planes. Russia will step in eventually. Their bond with Iran goes way, way back. Oil will skyrocket because Iran will try to hit Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities. Iran has a swarm of fast strike boats known as dhows, they are invisible to radar because of their size. Turkey may step in to help Iran also.

He won’t, and this is doubly bad for Trump:

  1. He looks even weaker than he already is — and more like Putin’s %*^#+€ than ever. This is not a message to be sending to folks like Xi Jinping and KJU. Seriously, if you’re a Chinese trade negotiator, you’re telling your bosses to hold out — Trump will be so desperate in a month that he’ll do anything for a deal he can brag about, even if the important details are all favorable to China.

  2. This makes him look weak with his base. Big tough guy threatens the big bad Iranians and then wusses out. Conversely, if we do get embroiled in another war, he loses about 15% support from those Trumpers who stil have a lick of sense, and whose children will be called to fight in a war that has a good chance of going badly. America could very well see a repeat of the Iraq war, except this time, the Iranian army won’t cut and run like the Iraqi soldiers did. They’ll put up a huge fight. Any military action will not end well.
