Discussion for article #242939

“Many top German officials, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, were
scheduled to attend the match to show they will not bow to terrorism.”

Except, they will.

This seems to be a rather last-minute decision if people were arleady in the stadium and asked to evacuate. Perhaps the authorities had some tip-off or a break in security protocols over weapons searches, etc.

yeah, that was sad, eh?

Hysteria is the order of the day.

We’re back in 9/11 crazy territory.

Or it could have been a simple as a phoned bomb threat .
That’s the problem . Who would not err on the side of caution .It happens every day with abandoned laundry packages that are blown up by SWAT teams

Calling Dick Cheney and his color-coded warning system…

And a later edition of this article actually says it was a bomb scare.

And CNN just said “Serious Explosions”

WTF is that even?
I guess that’s why i prefer the morning shows, where they only have “coffee-talk” explosions.

I heard on BBC at the time that the extra screening in place in Paris was only put in place after President Hollande made the decision to attend the game. Hollande’s decision was not announced publicly, he just went.

“Concrete” bombs? What will they use next?

He most certainly is a wet blanket, isn’t he?

Somehow, even I don’t think Santorum stoops that low. Dirty diapers. Dirty diapers.

While on that subject, I still have a tough time believing the folks of Louisiana are that goddamned stupid. If he wins, they (most of them) will get what they deserve. If I were New Orleans, I’d try and secede.

The “friendly” between England and France proceeded as scheduled. Cameron and Prince William in attendance, on the field, not behind a bulletproof screen. Well done, UK.
