And Republican turnout far exceeded Democratic turnout. The combined vote for governor on the Democrstic side, with 90% of the votes counted, wa 450,005. The Republican total was 574,598. This is not encouraging.
No it isn’t.
The Deep South is still a cesspool of racism and white privilege. Georgia is right there with Alabama with regard to deep racial divide and ugly discrimination based on skin color. They are proud to be hard core white supremacists and they have to intention of electing a bright, honest African-American female. Misogyny is still very ingrained as well.
One of the things they know is that GOP primary voters are even more extreme than GOP voters in the general.
Evans called for the Party to lean into a progressive vision and to excite new voters while Abrams, who is white, …
Try again, TPM. Third time’s the charm?
Why assume that TPM is to blame? It may be that Abrams, who has demonstrated the ability to easily beat even herself, is just good enough to be the first white woman to become “the first black woman to win a major-party gubernatorial nomination in U.S. history.”
She’s not about to win back “the state’s long-dead Democratic coalition that was rooted in moderate white voters,” though. Nobody’s that good. TPM takes the blame for pinning that goal on her.
You made a mess of this one, TPM, but it gave us some fun. Go Abrams!
“while Abrams, who is white,”
Or a few edits
You know you only had two women to talk about, one black and one white, and still managed to mess it up. “Abrams, who is white…” you exactly reversed them. Evans is the one who thought she could somehow get white Republicans to vote for a Democrat, which will NEVER happen. Abrams is the progressive. Jesus God people.
Not if he wants to encounter an angry mob of black and white females.
