LOL. He just walked into an absolute shitstorm with this one. Let’s take a look:
Trump attacks the federal judiciary which 1) shows he has no respect for and knowledge of separation of powers and check and balances; and 2) was a way for Trump to try to divert blame for any future terrorism attacks away from himself (he specifically said a new attack should be blamed on the judiciary).
Then Gorsuch says privately he’s disheartened by these statements. But his statements were confirmed!;
Trump claims Gorsuch didn’t say that, even though it’s been confirmed, and attacks Blumenthal over Vietnam, which Trump didn’t serve in and received multiple deferments (so did Blumenthal, but he later enlisted);
Spicer says Trump has no regrets, which doubles down on his previous comments; and
Spicer makes claims regarding what Gorsuch said even though he has no basis.
All of this just put a metric ton of pressure on Gorsuch to make more statements and clarify exactly what his statements meant!
Overall, I want them to start expanding the story and start asking about the racially motivated attacks on Judge Curiel. Does the president regret those attacks?
