Discussion: Spicer: Republicans Will 'Pay A Price' If They Don't Support GOP Health Bill

Somehow, I don’t think this threat may be as effective as it was in the Tea Party days.

Not that the R Congress lemmings won’t cave in the end. Not a breed known for their strength of will and independence. But the senators, they aren’t protected by gerrymandering.

but they’re not ramming it down anyone’s throat.

Republican infighting the theme for the 2018 election? Yes please.

A vey nice article by Zach Beauchamp at VOX, explaining how our political system is so ill-equipped to handle a political scandal of this magnitude.

In a nutshell, the GOP has become so hyper-partisan, that committee chairman and rank and file GOP
legislators are interested only in protecting their own and not informing the public to the best of their ability.

Used to be they’d dress up their threats with a smile or a cocktail or something.

Members of Congress who met with Trump Tuesday said he threatened them with primary challengers if they didn’t vote for the bill.

See…this is where I’d point out to the President that he’s the one under investigation with a threat of impeachment looming over him and if he wants my support, he’d better not primary me.

The power dynamic really isn’t on Trump’s side here.

“I think they’ll probably pay a price at home,” Spicer said.

He’s right … if having it completely bassackwards contitutes being right.

Perhaps he simply missed the videos of all the town hall meetings. Or maybe he thinks, as Shrubya so famously said about the worldwide protest against his impending illegal invasion of Iraq, “that’s just a focus group.”

You know, just the thought of Spicey projecting a threat is ludicrous on its face. He is about as threating as a dead sea-squirt.

Now THIS is threatening.

“Look,” he told them. “I’m an understanding guy. But my buddy Guido, well, he’s not so understanding. So let’s start again. Do you like being able to walk?”

I’m guessing SpiceBunny already has one of those in his pleasure dungeon… Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

Because threats always work so well…this is just a continuing demonstration of the criminality and incompetence of the Trump “Administration” (more like a conspiracy/confederacy of dunces.) “Nice little Congress you got here; be a shame if anything happened to it!” Gangsters, every last one of them. Lock THEM up!

If Spiceboy believes that a guy with a 37% approval rating is going to make others pay a price for disagreeing with him, or going against him, he is sadly mistaken. That’s providing those GOP Reps don’t have a worse approval rating than the sitting President does…

But keep talking Nutmeg.

He’s starting to sound like a nervous nelly.

“I think they’ll probably pay a price at home”

… so he’s saying they’ll pay a price if they vote against a callous, cruel, brutal, heartless, inhumane, ineffective and expensive health care bill a massive tax cut for the rich and death panels for the poor that’s almost universally hated?

Please do that crap on another planet. Please.

KAC has been recruited for this round of persuasion. Some GOP Congressweasels reported to be highly titllated…

He’s right in that GOP members of Congress WILL pay a price, mostly among the GOP base, if they fail to repeal Obamacare.

Unfortunately for them, they’ll ALSO pay a price if they do repeal Obamacare and manage to “replace” it with anything resembling the House’s steaming turd of a health care “plan.” .

Which price will be higher, and by how much, will vary by district.

My guess is the steaming turd narrowly passes the House (with it’s gerrymandered partisan districts), but without major changes it cannot pass the Senate (where many GOPers have to deal with more moderate statewide electorates).
