To show what a VerySeriousPerson he is, and as a conservative Republican, give a counter balance to Trump, while simultaneously not repudiating anything Trump actually stands for, and hurling several buckets of magic asterisks from the dais, to cover the unworkable or nonexistant plans he will propse.

GOP responds to mass shooting by proposing renewed government surveillance. For some reason, that’s preferable to limiting the practically unfettered access to military weapons.
In commenting on Trump’s statements about the mass murder in Orlando Ryan said “I disavow these comments — I regret those comments that he made. I think that should be absolutely disavowed. It’s absolutely unacceptable. [But] I believe that we have more common ground on the policy issues of the day and we have more likelihood of getting our policies enacted with him than with [Hillary].”
Because it’s apparently a regular weekly press conference, it’s just getting extra attention for obvious reasons.

FIFYI can’t watch this retard. Talking all around the issue and desperately trying to make this only about “radical Islamic terrorism.” Shooter was a self-loathing gay man who took himself and 48 others out because he couldn’t square his homophobia with who he really was. His pledge to ISIS bought him some justification in his own mind. But the sources of his homophobia were not only what he read in his Koran and what his father and imam told him. Christians push this bullshit too. And who among our elected leaders carries that torch for the christians? Isn’t it enough that two pastors critiqued the massacre as having insufficiently dispatched enough pedophiles? What a bunch of pukes.
What a sad sack Ryan is. He tried to play thing every which way and has lost all credibility.
Hopefully some Reporter will ask him why Congress is a gun-free zone, since so many right-wingers are running around right now claiming that it was because the Pulse was a gun-free nightclub that the carnage was so bad.
If more guns make us safer, wouldn’t Congress want to stay safe by allowing guns in its halls?
