Rosie implies that Ghandi ran during her period to send a message to Trump, yet she ran the London marathon in April according to the article.

Oh c’mon, you’re being needlessly literal. She meant as a message to anyone who believe that women should be ashamed, embarrassed, hidden away (a la deuteronomy) by menstruation- not solely Trump.
Her comments are merely following, in an in-your-face fashion, the satiric essay by Gloria Steinem (I believe it was called “If men Menstruated”) in which she wrote if men menstruated, it would be a source of pride and bragging-“I bled more- oh yeah? my flow lasted longer!”

No - she was referencing the Fox debates specifically:
“Why do you think she did that?” O’Donnell asked on air. “When Fox anchors are being accused of being hormonal and ashamed because they have their period…Then [Gandhi] does that. Why do you think she does that? You don’t think she did that to say, ‘Fuck you, asshole!’” (emphasis added)
Rosie believed that Ghandi ran the marathon while she was having her period after the Fox debates to send a message when clearly (unless Ghandi has a time machine) she did no such thing.
I can’t believe how afraid everyone (men in power) are of women who bleed. All of my friends in corporate world had to go back on the pill when menopause hit to control their bleeding. Yes, women bleed.
We have no control over it.
But, Donald Trump was way over the line here.
If it weren’t for the pill and being able to control our pregnancies we would all be back in the 50s making 0% instead of 70% of what a man makes for doing the same job.
I see your point, but I still sense enough wiggle room to believe she was making a larger point towards a larger contingent of misogynists. Not concisely, I certainly acknowledge, but it was an off the cuff rant.
