I remember that. I also seem to remember when some activists took a projector and flashed the mural onto the building if I recall correctly. That was a hoot.
Yep…here it is:

I always thought of Mainers as sensible people. And yet they keep electing this assclown, so I guess not.
Out and out corruption. This is completely beneath the dignity of the office and likely illegal. I think the FBI ought to look into this. After all, if politician who make fund-raising calls from the wrong office can get indicted, then this ought to be worth a look see.
Extortion is on the books of every state’s code, plus - and more importantly - there are provisions covering this sort of behavior as alleged in the U.S. Code. The issue either way is going to be the availability of evidence and its quality.
Color me smug - I’m from Pennsylvania!
This is the second LePage thread today, and I mentioned this in the earlier one. In Stephen King’s book 11/22/63 about a time traveler who changes the events on that day, Maine has seceded from the union and become a province of Canada. King lives in Maine and definitely has an axe to grind with this guy.
It’s not like obese bullying pols is anything approaching a rarity, now or at any time in the history of democratically elected government.
Why be surprised? Blackmail is one of the Teabaggers’ favorite tools.
That and taking hostages.
Nice get. Reminded me of when Gov Rockefeller went all LaPage on Diego Rivera’s and his mural commissioned by Rockefeller for Rockefeller Center back in the '30’s.
Talking about Rocky, remember this reaction to a reporter’s question:
Ah, the good old days (sigh).
That wingnut just got reelected last year. I was so disappointment in Maine Voters.
I thought they where smarter then that.
LePage is a piece of LeShit.
The way the school Chairman knuckled under reminds me of how the University administrators here in AZ have always been nice as can be to our republican legislature and whoever our governor happens to be hoping they won’t cut funding again. But it never works. Funding has been cut every goddam year since 1969. I know because I worked at The University of Arizona from that time to 2012. This year the universities were cut…again. AND our community colleges were completely zeroed out of the state budget this year which contravenes our state Constitution. And still the admin folk make nice.
I love the state of Maine, but why the hell did you elect this asshole governor?
Also, why would someone who opposed charter schools (if that’s true) want to be the president of a charter school operator? Why would this operator want him as president if he in fact opposed charter schools?
It really does argue an extraordinary laissez-faire attitude on the part of the citizenry.
To their own ruin. Because if you let the arsonist alone while he burns your enemies’ farms, who do you blame when they’re all gone and the arsonist turns on you?
I believe blackmail is still a crime in all 50 states. Prosecute LePage.
Paul LePage looks like he belongs in the Republican Presidential candidates pool.
"Republican Sen. Roger Katz a member of the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, called the governor’s actions “personal, angry and vindictive.”
Who does he think he is… Chris Christie? The Northeast is way too small for TWO governing assholes.
30% of voters (especially in Maine) are assholes.
That explains the votes.
Governor Cochon sounds like he stepped on a Bouncing Betty here, once it pops up it will cut him in half. My only question is, can he PERSONALLY be sued or is the cash coming out of state coffers? Don’t really care since the citizens of Maine deserve the kind of political filth they vote into office … like this human excretion: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/maine-gop-lawmaker-medicaid-expansion
