Having just set myself to refer to Trump using TTT in another post I come here to find CCC ( in Minnesota this guy is looking at Conservatives for Candidates of Character)… Where do they get this stuff. This guy has no time for TTT.
Well…he picked a good person to be against.
The most dangerous human on earth.
Floating lead balloons?
For those not familiar with MN. Steele County isn’t exactly a major metro area. It’s 60m South of the Twin Cities on the I35 corridor. Total population of the county of something less than <40k…Predominately Rural/Ag and votes pretty reliably Red… So some chaos in the R party there isn’t a bad thing.
If Thul’s measure is adopted, the Minnesota GOP would be the first state party to rebuke the presumptive GOP nominee in that manner.
Well, Minnesotans have a unique perspective. They elected a Trump-like figure, Pro Wrestler Jesse “The Body” Ventura as Governor.
It wasn’t a resounding success. Like Trump, Ventura had no particular knowledge of or interest in policy issues before commencing his “vanity campaign”.
A year or two into office, Ventura found himself unable to gain much leverage with either Republicans or Dems (called “Democratic-Farmer-Labor” in Minnesota) in the Legislature. So he started taking time off to referee semi-pro football games in the “Extreme Football League”.
In short, he got bored. So the chief executive job became a part-time gig.
A cautionary tale, America.
Is this a sign that maybe, just maybe there is some intelligent life in the Republican party?
Good luck to him, not that any of the others choices were much better.
No. Their other choices were as just bad, but didn’t verbalize it as openly.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. But we live in hope.
On the right I always respected the libertarian types more than the authority lovers and faux Christians. Let’s hope this guy sets an example.
…who would devolve our party into the lowest common denominator,”
Oh you hit that mark back in the Moral Majority days sparky.
If it took him until Trump’s candidacy to notice something was terribly wrong with his party…
The GOTP in Minnesota officially became the IR–Independent Republicans–in 1974. Because Nixon. They went back to being Republicans a decade later. Ventura won because it was a 3-way that year. But yeah, he was very Trumpish in word, deed, and excruciatingly awful yuuuge projects that of course never happened.
Of which Trump has neither.
But the conservative boys do love oogling the blonde babes.
No such luck. This guy’s reasons for opposing Trump are as follows:
“What this IS about is a man with the character of a rutting rhino and the manners of a chimpanzee who donated to every uber liberal in the country and has announced support for a baby slaughter mill and for the idea that people can choose their gender.”
Ventura was actually a mayor of a large Minnesota city before running for governor. While he was governor I heard him speak several times-he was actually a bit of a policy wonk. The forays into sports were minor and took up little of his time.
This brings to mind the old joke about the guy who opens his lunch sack at work and says to his office mate, “Damn, peanut butter and jelly again.”.
Office Mate: Ask your wife to make you something else.
Guy: I make my own lunch
The GOP still refuses to admit that Trump IS the GOP. He’s the entirely predictable result of GOP bigotry, lies, white supremacy, anti-intellectualism, xenophobia, jingoism. Pot, meet kettle.
Give him Kristol’s number.
