What folks forget is most Christians in the South aren’t fundamentalist evangelicals. More importantly, not all evangelicals are political. By not backing away from his faith Jason Carter is doing something very similar to what Jimmy Carter did successfully years ago. Remember the social teachings of Jesus Christ track the beliefs of liberal democrats far better than they track the beliefs of fearful, hate filled, libertarian Tea Partiers.

It’s about time us Southern Dems remembered that we have plenty in common with our neighbors. The GOTP got the edge in the South by linking any Dem to the national party. This is the best way to counter that.
also the dems i dont think will bastardize twist or pervert what their jesus said for political and ideological porpouses…unlike conservatives that do that on a daily basis
