Discussion: Shutdown Wars Flare Up After Triple Filibuster Of Gov't Funding Bill

THANK YOU!! You hit it on the head perfectly. And THIS is the reason some Dems just will never get it through their heads that “compromising” with the Rethugs is heads they win, tails they win.

Rec 100X.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

If you don’t see that the “immigration issue” isn’t thinly veiled racism from “the right”, then there is nothing really left to discuss.

OMG. This is so much better than House of Cards could ever promise to be.

Is a triple filibuster anything like double secret probation?

That’ll happen soon too. The Senate is gonna end up passing a clean DHS funding bill and sending it back to the House. Boehner is gonna have to get it passed with mostly Dem votes.

So Mitch, doesn’t it suck when you get hit with the same shit ball you first pitched?

Yep, and I hope Pelosi and Company start asking for something in exchange when they bail out Boehner and the GOP. For instance, you want a clean debt ceiling hike that won’t cause yet another embarrassing showdown for the GOP? You’ve got it, but we’re going to need you to bring up a vote on the Obamacare fix and send over enough Republicans to get it passed. Want to avoid a government shutdown? It’s all your’s, now how about that renewed Civil Right’s Act?

It is good to see the Senate Democrats unite to stop the hostage taking of Republicans. Thanks to our President, they know it works. Keep up the good work, Dems.

Republicans are basically putting a gun to their own temples and threatening to shoot the hostage. They control both Houses and have the ability to pass a clean bill that will fund the department, whenever they want to.

Senate Democrats united Thursday to filibuster government funding legislation for the third time in three consecutive days, rebelling over Republican provisions that would end protections for young people in the U.S. illegally and block President Barack Obama’s recent executive actions on immigration.

How’s it feel, Turtle?

“Some Republicans senators are growing impatient…”

Oh really? Poor babies!

Oh, no, Dean Wormer is instituting “Double Secret Probation”.

Yup! What goes around comes around!

Yeah, but the irony always seems lost… “don’t tread on me, but as long as it’s you, it’s time to 2-step.”

I think the line will be, “after complaining about Republican obstructionism for six years, the Democrats are taking one from their playbook.” Or some other horseshit glib line that completely ignores the actual issue.
