The only reason repugs are backing off on this is because the Dems haven’t taken control of the House yet. When the CR comes up again in February, and they can get the messaging they want (The dem’s are doing this because they don’t believe in “boarder” security and they’re waiting for the “smocking” gun that will come in the form of a mushroom cloud, etc) they’ll go full steam ahead with their shutdown theatrics.

There was a time when Congress passed annual budgets. We in the science community could plan their research. But these days Congress can’t wipe their own ass. And their approval polling shows it.

I would like to see trump with these numbers. Then we could be rid of him.

People mock Trump for his inability to follow through with his big threats, but that’s just because he watches Fox News and honestly thinks they’re telling the truth. Trump’s the angry uncle saying what the other angry uncles really think should happen and doesn’t understand why it can’t.

Meanwhile, Republicans have had control of all three branches of government for years and the only thing they have to show for it was a taxcut that hurt them politically and nothing else. Yet we’re supposed to laugh at their simpleton leader because he can’t force his congressman to do the things they screamed about when Obama was president but can’t deliver now that they’re in charge. At no point will they admit that they can’t pass any legislation because they’re frauds with a fraud agenda that’s unpopular and terrible.
