Discussion: Sheriff's Office Denies McDaniel Trio Was Let Into Courthouse

Some commenter at the local paper claims the entire incident is a fabrication - the other guys made it up to make their guy look bad. She seems to believe that, by golly.

This is going to make a great Cohen brothers movie.

It could have been me, because I remember arguing strenuously what I really believed—that nobody with his legal background would be so stupid. Brutal, cheap, dirty, fine. But that stupid and reckless, that huge lopsided difference between risk and reward, that I couldn’t believe. Maybe running for office is like prospecting for gold, and some people just go nuts over it. But they did it all, you can’t think otherwise. Unbelievable.

Nope. Cochran is toast either way. The McDaniel camp is crawling with crooks and low-lifes, presumably reflecting McDaniel himself. The people from the awful state of MS will vote for him anyway, because, he is their best bet to prevent the n…rs from getting obamacare.

Just reinforces that is not a matter of who votes, but who counts the votes.

In other news: A black man was spotted 3 blocks from the courthouse. Mississippi Attorney General to open investigation into the likelihood of Democrats committing voter fraud.

Are there no video cameras there? …I mean, I know its Mississippi and all, but there should be at least one.

This whole thing stinks to high heaven.

One of those folks is going to squeal as soon as they realize the legal trouble they’re in now.

It won’t be pretty for McDaniel or his campaign.
But it may not make him lose the runoff.

We are, after all, talking about Mississippi.

That would explain why they never called the police and the Hinds County GOP involvement but what about being found at the site? lol

What difference does it make? Mississippians don’t care that McDaniel’s campaign is riddled with criminals. He carries the good fight – onward and upward toward the destruction of the Democrats! No compromise, no surrender – if it takes a few rotten apples to get the job done, so be it.

Shots fired by Hinds County Sheriff’s spokesman! How does the campaign lie around the Sheriff’s Dept calling them out??

Thing is, in the twisted up multiple spontaneously generated alternate reality world that hardcore teanuts like this live in, they could easily have persuaded themselves a) that there was a conspiracy by the other side to monkey with the ballots if they weren’t “protected,” b) that their cause was so righteous, God commanded them to monkey with the ballots themselves or c) because of their certainty that the other side was plotting to monkey with the ballots, it was totally okay for them to engage in a little preemptive ballot monkeying themselves.

Then they got inside and realized that an intention and a plan weren’t the same thing (a thing teanuts continually seem not to get) and had to call for help.

The moment when the Hinds County Sheriff Department smells something fishy going on with the McDaniel campaign.

So, what would this be? Ballotgate? Lockedingate? And, of course, unlike the many other gates we’ve had thrust upon us in the past 30 years, this one shares with Watergate the fact that it apparently involved a break-in!

How delightful!

From the Clarion-Ledger:

Hinds County Circuit Clerk Barbara Dunn says it would be virtually impossible to tamper with ballots after they make it to her office. All ballots including absentee were locked inside a vault in her office, which was locked when everyone left Tuesday night between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m, Dunn said.“It would be very hard for anyone to get into my vault,” Dunn said. “And I have an alarm system that is turned on that would make a loud sound if anyone opens the vault.”

So what were those 3 political operatives doing for nearly 2 hours in the courthouse in the wee hours? Playing poker? Having a 3-way? Planting bombs/guns in courtrooms? Is it possible that they intended to mess with the ballots but failed to do their homework and missed the fact that they were locked in a vault? Sure hope somebody thought to do some fingerprinting. And what’s with a public building that doesn’t have emergency escape fire doors?

It was obvious from the get-go that Lane, Brewster & Chambers were being dishonest.

Surely they could have come up with a better story than claiming to have “entered” the County Courthouse at 2:00 AM with the assistance of a police officer. Then again, probably not considering the source …

Furthermore, Pete Perry, the Republican Executive Committee Chair who supports Thad Cochran, said Janis Lane contacted him at 2:00 AM saying she and a friend were locked inside the courthouse and no one was with them. So Lane lied about that.

And what were they doing until 3:45 AM – for an hour and 45 minutes – while they were waiting to be let out and why did it take that long anyhow?

And lastly, why is the Sheriff’s Dept just now refuting their story?

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive.

I’d like to say only in Mississippi—but there are baggers all over the place.

G Gordon Liddy has been called into explain how and why these people were in the courthouse after hours. How many events does McDaniel need before the folks in Mississippi figure this out.
