Discussion: Sessions' Tough On Crime Talk Could Lead To Fuller Prisons

That’s great news because our prison system is so effective. Only about half of released federal prisoners return to prison! Under Sessions enlightened approach, more privately run prisons will be coming your way with some of those great new jobs Trump promised.

I suspect that Sessions believes that we will need more room in prisons for all of the members of the fake news media.

Go there in escalating pot arrests. It will go over big with all the libertarians out west and the underemployed in the rustbelt states.Your base want jobs and control over their lives not a rockwellian police state

I hope Sessions has got a big budget and good lawyers. Because the ACLU, NRDC, and other human rights and enviromental advocacy organizations have better lawyers and are pretty flush right now. See you in court …Jeff-Beau.

The CCA has promised him a job when he finishes with this one. A tiny bit of it is his longstanding hate for the pot-smoking hippies and colored folk, but a lot of it is the profits of people who look and think like him.

Lest we overlook, bear in mind that mass incarceration disenfranchises huge segments of the population by robbing them of their voting rights and is therefore a huge boost to the GOP and its long term power grab goals.

I’m rather partial to Jeff-BS3 (or the full thing, uttered in the obligatory slow Alabama drawl, hard to replicate online). And amen.

Sessions’ Tough On Crime Talk Could Lead To More Incarcerated People of Color

Well there ya go. Got to give it time so I can create more private prison building program grants at taxpayers expense and then get invested so we can fill them up and get paid again with taxpayer money.
Sounds like a win win.

Just what we need and who can’t figure this shit out? Private prisons are anathema to democracy. If the government is going to bring its power to bear on an individual and declare that person as being outside the law and punishable, that punishment should be on the government as well - not private individuals. Everything about private prisons is problematic as far as I’m concerned.

And goddamn it I hate Jeff Sessions.

Yeah all that noise over recreational marijuana has some law enforcement upset I’ve read. They don’t have time for that shit and it’s a waste of time since the entire momentum is toward legalization.

  1. Rockwellian police state??? Did you mean Orwellian? Or am being dense?

  2. Maybe they can get jobs as prison guards. I’m sure the private prisons pay union wages. (That was snark, of course.)

If by “fuller prisons” we only mean “many current members of the Trump administration,” then I could go for that.

@dnl @tena–“Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons?”
