Discussion: Sessions Throws Cold Water On GOP Fever To Appoint New Special Counsel

He probably feels that the Trump administration is FUBAR, and does not want to put himself at risk for a guy that has shown nothing but contempt for him lately.

Thanks for posting that – I would have missed Vladeck’s tweet otherwise. He wrote this analysis this morning.

Is there one Repuglic that Boehner does like?

It sure doesn’t seem like it since he left.

Maybe he has other interests, maybe he is laying the groundwork for an investigation - staging things to make it appear a difficult decision, based on evidence, apolitical?

They aren’t opening another investigation. And what could they do to Hillary? She’s a private citizen and if they tried to get her to appear before Congress she could tell them to jump in the lake. They can’t do anything to her besides fine her and big deal.

Post departure Boehner is the best Boehner there ever was.

Nobody could shed crocodile tears the way he did. He was the most honest in his open corruption. They just don’t make these kind of Republicans any more.

Dr. Coyote, you think he’s cooperating with the investigation to keep himself out of hot water? Have the G-Men flipped Jeffy?

Yes, that’s true—Li’l Jeffy wants to make sure that race relations are as they were in the great and glorious 1950s.

I swear, I expected him to be asked by Fahrenthold “what did you have for breakfast”, and then Conyers following up with “with whom did you have breakfast”, such is the hands- off treatment of this guy.

Plenty of selfish reasons abound for his actions:

  • Not wanting to be constantly nagged by T.R. Dump about the progress of the show trial.
  • Not wanting to suffer the inevitable wrath by T.R. Dump about the inevitable, and highly public failure of said
    show trial.
  • Not wanting to suffer the violent populist backlash by all the far right Faux Faps who will feel that the failed show trial
which never should have been as having been rigged, and therefore begin bombing places… including the justice department.
  • On the flip side, if the rule of law is thrown out the window and somehow Clinton was found of being guilty of an imaginary crime, then it would (hopefully) tear the veil of a functioning democracy and justice system based on justice (and not dictated by despots and oligarchs) from the eyes of the majority of non-extremists… resulting in similar (or greater?) levels of violence, revolution, etc.
  • Not wanting to have to waste his time on something he knows is fruitless. (i.e.: Reaction of anyone choosing between whether to deal with pointless meetings or not. )

That’s just off the top of my head :stuck_out_tongue:

PS: It’s sad that not going out of one’s way to vent propaganda and propagate malfeasance is what’s considered noble these days. :expressionless:

OT: Buzzfeed article linked in the tweet.

https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/930500603985395712

On Aug. 3 of last year, just as the US presidential election was entering its final, heated phase, the Russian foreign ministry sent nearly $30,000 to its embassy in Washington. The wire transfer, which came from a Kremlin-backed Russian bank, landed in one of the embassy’s Citibank accounts and contained a remarkable memo line: “to finance election campaign of 2016.”

Isn’t that just incredibly as sloppy as to plot treason via unencrypted Twitter DM? :astonished:

Hillary, I’m sure, DNGAF, but she’s not the point. It’s all about undermining Mueller (who was head of the FBI when the uranium approval went through, and would therefore be accused of standing by, PROVING THAT HE’S ACTUALLY WORKING FOR THE CLINTON CONSPIRACY). Ditto for the dossier, the Clinton Foundation nonsense, etc. A show trial would give Fox fodder to lay down a fog while Jordan’s mob agitates for Mueller to step down, thereby “discrediting” the investigation.

Sure wish Maggie Haberman had read your post and included those facts in her reporting. Good lord what happens to otherwise sensible women when they go to work at the times? From Miller to Chosick to Haberman it seems they need to carry the right wing water bucket.
