Discussion: Sessions: I Discussed 'The Ukraine' With Russian Ambassador During Meeting

… later correcting himself, saying “I misspoke when I said ‘Ukraine.’ What I meant to say was we discussed the beauty of Cypriot banking laws. … D’oh!”

Did he claim that both meetings were conducted as part of his work with the Armed Services Committee?
If this meeting was for ASC business, he should explain how discussions of Ukraine related to the committee’s work.
I’m not sure Sessions will last til Friday afternoon, the way this is playing out.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the White House, showing a sense of comedic irony, brought KAC out on Friday morning to make the rounds and affirm full support for Sessions?

By saying ‘the Ukraine,’ Sessions may be revealing that he believes the independent country is still controlled by Russia.

I know - that would be a right good hoisting on one’s own petard. hahahaha

Completely OT but a worthwhile observation:

Whenever a Rethugliklan lies, to emphasize a particular point or word, they raise their eyebrows. The bigger, more unbelievable the the lie, the higher their eyebrows go. It’s a dead giveaway every time.

you still don’t understand the problem ya little mutt… you could’ve been talking to Spain about Portugal… the problem is you’re discussing FOREIGN POLICY… get it?

Oh… He didn’t mean anything by it …

Why would you, Jeffy, be discussing “the (sic) Ukraine” with anyone from Russia? You were never part of the Senate Foreign Relations committee. What sort of expertise or insight would you bring to such a discussion?

Then Chechnya came up…but they were just discussing Kadyrov’s missing cat.

No that isn’t the problem either. He could have been talking to Spain about Portugal. If a Senator had asked him if he had had discussions with Spain and he said No under oath, it wouldn’t matter if they were talking about Portugal or paella.

He lied under oath at least twice. It really doesn’t matter what it was he lied about.

Also the same Ukraine that was the subject of literally the only change to the Republican platform that Trump insisted upon.

What connects them all? Russia, the Ukraine and shady money.

FBI probably has audio as officials from countries like Russia are ALWAYS monitored. All the more so when they pay a visit to a U.S. government official, particularly one that has no reason to be meeting with a Russian government official of any kind.

my point was that he’s trying to reframe the situation by pretending he wasn’t talking to Russia about the Russia… he was trying to pretend they were discussing the Ukraine…

he isn’t allowed to do either one…

the crime is discussing foreign policy…

lying about it is the coverup… and that, too, is a crime…

You left out some major players there:

Paul Manafort
Wilbur Ross
Roger Stone
Carter Page
