It depends on what they decide constitutes high crimes and misdemeanors. Itâs hard for me to say since as far as Iâm concerned, heâs already committed dozens of impeachable offenses.

Slate had an article during the election concerning a server in Trump Tower that was connected to a Russian bank or banks. For some u unknown reason, the story just died. Maybe this is the resurrection (I hope).

Itâs really beyond stunning. Itâs why I donât think these outbursts are planned or part of some strategy to distract. All he had to do was enjoy the sun and his high priced side piece (you just know heâs got one and thatâs why he has to run off to FL every weekend) and shut the fuck up. But he couldnât do that much. He couldnât stand to sit back and wait for the latest crisis to blow over. He had to do something to control the story. So, now heâs invited an investigation into something he knows isnât true, and heâll be exposed for lying about that.
Whatâs worse though is that his own party isnât even trying to cover his big orange behind. They could try to sweep this under the rug in order to protect him from himself. Theyâre not all completely stupid. They know full well heâs lying. But theyâre pushing ahead with an investigation that is almost certain to prove him to be a bigger liar than previously thought. Itâs just amazing, and to think weâre not even a full two months into his presidency.

Nope. It wouldnât vindicate him in the slightest. NO candidate, POTUS-elect or sitting POTUS is above the law or these procedures. Letâs first differentiate a little though.
If the FBI obtained no warrant to wiretap, but did so anyway, weâre going to have an absolute shitshow on our handsâŚharbor no doubt about that. The GOP will feel no pressure any more to further investigate Trumpâs campaignâs ties to Russia or Trumpâs own ties to Russia and it will probably damage our ability to get them to act on some pretty serious things, like the revelations coming out about Trumpâs dealings in Azerbaijan. Instead, we will be treated to a 2-4 year circus of the GOP attempting to establish that Obama violated all normal protocol and practice and gave the order for the wiretap directly. There will be no there, there, but the absence of evidence and their inability to prove it will only serve as proof of the conspiracy and the cover up.
If the FBI obtained a warrant to wiretap through the FISA court, you can bet your bippy that this wasnât treated like a routine âsurveil the muslims just in caseâ FISA warrant (which have the unfortunate reputation of being rubber stamped by the FISA court). Iâm admittedly going out on a limb, but I would hope/think that the Court would recognize the sensitive nature of the warrant and raise the bar on what is necessary to obtain the warrant, not just in terms of the amount fo the evidence, but also its credibility and reliability. And remember, these FISA judges are appointed directly by Justice Roberts, so I donât think there are any âcrazy liberalsâ in the rotation. Therefore, in this scenario, the evidence is probably fairly solid and was compelling enough for the court to issue the warrant. At that point, two things will happen:
(1) the admin, the GOP and the alt-right will go completey batshit with distraction tactics and attempt to take over the airwaves with constant and increasingly crazed calls for Obamaâs head, despite the evidence, and Congressional GOPers will still latch onto the opportunity for rabbit hole hearings and kabuki theater to distract from the real issue, likely subpoenaeing Obama in hopes that, if nothing else, they can force him to commit perjury during a 12 hour hearing and
(2) the rest of the country will be hearing about the evidence the court relied upon and start demanding Trumpâs resignation and/or impeachmentâŚor at least further investigation into the Trump campaignâs connections an dealing with Russian, and the pressure will be such that it probably canât really be refused, no matter how much the GOP wants to or, if they do, it just does horrible damage to them in 2018 and/or 2020 for their obvious bias and failure of oversight.
It also may matter exactly who and what and where the wiretapping attached to. If it was Flynnâs cell phone, then I see very little chance of Trump managing to sustain the argument that this was a horrible abuse of power, even if he wants to run around claiming that âyeah, but Flynn was in Trump Tower when he had that conversation with the Russians that got him fired.â On the other hand, if it was a land-line in Trumpâs own condo, then weâve got more of a problem.

I actually think that things are unfolding and Trump opened a door, to make an evidence metaphor, that he shouldnât have opened because now light is being shined on Trump Tower and that server again. That had disappeared for a bit.
Frankly, I have a view that is I think if not unique here, it is a minority view. I think the FBI has been running a criminal investigation on someone close to Trump if not Trump. I think there has been another investigation by the spy chasers in the FBI, because someone close to Trump is a Russian agent. Supposedly there is a third investigation, and I donât know what that is about. I know everyone distrusts Comey and I donât trust him but I still am unclear on where the FBI is in all of this because it seems to me they still have these open investigations against Trump, his campaign, and at least one person around him.
I think the money trail picks up people in Congress on the way between Trump and Putin, too - I think itâs complicated. Iâve seen a chart of connections on dailykos, and it looks like an immense web. I hate conspiracies but none of this makes sense without something that ties it all together between the Americans involved and the Russians. I could theorize on what that is, but it may not matter. To see the connections is enough, and they are mostly monetary.

- HJC drafts Articles of Impeachment
- HJC debates Articles of Impeachment (Nixon)
- Entire House of Representatives debates Articles of Impeachment & votes on them (Simple Majority)
a. If this happens, President is considered Impeached - Senate holds the Trial âWill the official be kicked out of officeâ
a. House Judiciary Committee acts as the prosecution-- presents evidence against the accused
b. Accused chooses own lawyers to present defense
c. Chief Justice of Supreme Court acts as Judge and rules on admissibility of evidence
d. Senate acts as the Jury - A 2/3 majority of the Senate must vote against accused to remove the person from office (Andrew Johnson, Clinton)
