Discussion for article #236701
This is certainly interesting political brinksmanship. But does anyone think the NSA won’t do whatever it wants to do?
Remember, even John Ashcroft, while testifying for the Patriot Act, admitted that it would not have stopped the 9/11 attacks. And can we stop electing ugly politicians like that goddamn turtle? I’m sick of seeing his picture.
Interesting dynamic between the Jr. and Sr. Senators from KY. My feeling is that Mitchy is crossing his fingers for Randy’s demise, but Mitchy’s record has been a little spotty of late like that One Term PBO Thing. Not to mention, that Randy actually became the Jr. on his watch, but who could tell? We all know we can’t believe a word of what these pols say.
NSA does what it is authorized to do.
Clearly, the office of majority leader is one step beyond Senator McConnell’s competence level; just as responsibly voting in every election has constantly been one step beyond the competence of most Americans.
It will be interesting to see which fear wins out. Other than a few loud-mouth libertarians who have a visceral fear and hatred of all things government, I suspect almost no-one is worried about the Patriot Act. So will politicians fear the libertarians disrupting their election events more, or will they fear the news story after the next terrorist attack that the attack could have been prevented had Senator so-and-so not eliminated program such-and-such?
I do not often agree with Sen. Rand Paul on anything…but this time, I do.
Cue up some faked crisis that will be leaked that will show how badly the government needs the Patriot Act…just wait, its coming
You’re out of touch.
Not from what I’ve been reading lately.
First off, rename it to reflect what it truly is, not isn’t.
This is Republican bullshit just like all of their groups that are deceivingly named.
Call it, Big Brother, because that is what it has been known as for 50 or 60 years.
The fear business creates these reactions to manufactured fear. Cut the Hucksters out of he picture and all of the fear based shit that they create goes with them.
I guess you don’t realize that anybody can publish anything on the internet. Doesn’t make it the truth. One finds many libertarian statements of their faith, and of course a primary doctrine of the libertarian religion is that government, not corporate greed, is the source of all evil; and the NSA, not GOOGLE, is collecting and keeping everything about everybody. But what do expect from people who take fiction by Ayn Rand as the blueprint for a perfect world. Republicans aren’t the only ones who “create their own reality”.
