So where was Cruz? He was one of the missing GOP votes.
Seeing as heâs exhibit A for the GOP getting away with violating the rule, and seeing as I am (ugh) his constituent, Iâd like to know.
Mitch McConnell: Without a soul, without ethics, without a sense of shame.
Wow, and I thought being a former constituent of Holy Joe Lieberman was mad - my sympathies.
The more interesting thoughts are:
-
the comments about Sessions were made at a time when he was not a Senator and, in fact, were entered into the Congressional Record. The criticisms were not directed at a Senator, but at a racist US Attorney.
-
Does this mean that anytime a Senator is nominated to a cabinet post, the debate cannot include any criticisms of his or her performance, or credentials, or experience?
Really?
Donât worry, Iâve also got Cornyn.
Ted Cruz, July 2015:
[Ted Cruz took to the Senate floor Friday and charged that Mitch McConnell told a âlie,â escalating his campaign against GOP leaders and challenging the traditions of the usually decorous chamber.
In a scathing floor speech, the Texas firebrand accused the Senate majority leader of breaking his word to him and the rest of the GOP conference over McConnellâs plans for the controversial Export-Import Bank, the countryâs chief export credit agency. In Cruzâs telling, McConnell privately promised him and other Republicans that âthere was no dealâ with a handful of senators who were seeking to revive the bank in exchange for their votes to advance a major trade bill in May.]
Yertle sat in his seat, evidently afraid to move, and squirmed and never made any attempt to silence Cruz. Why? âItâs OK when WE do it.â _Oh, and McConnell is a hypocritical POS also. There is that.
If McConnellâs goal was to squelch the discussion on Sessions, he miscalculated badly.
Frankly I canât think of a better way to make this Page One Above the Fold than by trying to silence critics.
We should send out a clarion call to gather en masse at the Capitol and shut emâ down until McKraken apolgizes to Senator Warren and allows her to complete her statement on the record.
The fact these cowards would use Sessionsâ Senate status as a dodge is shameful.
If anything, Senators should be even MORE subject to scrutiny and exposure if they are cabinet nominees facing approval, hiding behind the Senate like this makes the whole process look crooked, right down to the roots.
This THE most disingenuous White House in history.
The latest chapter in their endless lie is the preposterous proposition that The Resistance is somehow astroturfâŚ
I can guarantee, that is easily disproven just by looking at the new rank and file orgnaization, INDIVISIBLE, started by ex-congressional and legislative staffers with insider day-to-day savvy, and taken up by everyday people previously uninvolved, and THEY are the people protesting at all the town halls and congressional home offices.
Iâve been organizing way out on the frontier of Kansas for them, and they are tapping VOLUNTEERISM on an historic scale, I have the emails and the testimony and the video to prove it.
They arenât paid, as a matter fo fact they all pay their own way. They arenât wasting time fundraising, there simply isnât time for it, they just pay thier own way, at every juncture person by person.
Anyone who tries to equate that to the Tea Mob coagulation we saw in the 2010 elections forgets the openly exposed way the Kochs and Armey and his creeps sponsored all those tobacco-smokey Greyhound bus trips, the 2-star motels and the frank-n-beans catering that the T-Party was notorious for.
The difference is fundamental.
Organic versus Synthetc as purely as we have ever known, since the birth of the internet that fertilizes both. Spicer even comparing the two movements is absurd, and his sophomoric attempt to flip the truth with the lie is just astounding to anyone with a modicum of plain logic.
The depth of that deception and the absurd ignorance of the dumbfounded who believe it are the same gaping hole.
And I dare say, the new signage is SO much more literate and clever.
That alone will cue historians and academics of the future to the simplest truth available.
Elizabeth deserves a contribution from me now.
Words simply cannot express my contempt and utter loathing of Mitch McConnell. When the Dems get back in power, they should go out of their way to handle this POS as roughly as possible. He really deserves to be formally censured for the Obama S.Ct. business.
Be careful what you say about the assholes, Elizabeth.
I think a senator needs to go on the floor and tell McConnell he is an idiot and devious.
'scuse me, but Imeant âMcConnellâ, not McKraken, slip oâthe freudian keyboard there, but you get my point⌠this âTurtleâ crap is vapid, the monster he represents is much meanerâŚ

âŚbut donât ya see, Sen. Warren is a woman. You canât just sit thee and listen to a woman read a letter from another woman that offers criticism of a real Senator, read that, âmaleâ Senator. Where would it all end if the good Senator McConnell had allowed that woman to go on?
SARCASM, do not blow a gasket.
McConnell: âThem uppity wimmenzâ need to be put in tharâ placeâŚjistâ like little Jeffy Sessions put them uppity blacks in their place, back in the Good olâ Dazeâ!â
McConnell slaps down the âuppity womanâ but just hours ago he lets Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley finish reading the King letter without protest âcause, well, he may be a Democrat but heâs a man.
She did not âdirectly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senatorâ, she just read a letter that showed evidence that Sessions does not have the bonafides to be Attorney General for all the people. Not to mention a verifiable history of making similar remarks that show he is more than willing to let voter suppression go unchallenged.
What a way to celebrate Black History Month
God bless Elizabeth Warren, maybe you can lend your moxie, (I was going to use a slang term) to the Senators who know the 25th Amendment should be invoked but have no political courage to help save America from this horrible regression.
Rules for Republicansâ˘.
Cruz was still recovering from last nightâs beat down, he was still feeling âThe Burnâ from Sanders.
[Senate Democrats echo Warren on the floor, baiting GOP
By ELANA SCHOR 02/08/17 12:10 PM EST
Elizabeth Warrenâs fellow Democrats are taking to the Senate floor to read the same letter criticizing attorney general nominee Sen. Jeff Sessions that got Warren formally chastised by the GOP â but drawing no similar objections so far as they push back against her rare rebuke.
At least four Democrats have uttered the same passage on the Senate floor from Coretta Scott Kingâs 1986 statement against Sessionsâ federal judge nomination that got Warren punished: Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, New Mexico Sen. Tom Udall, Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley, and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent who caucuses with Democrats.]
And the roster will grow in response to Yertleâs idiotic maneuver. And, as an aside, Warrenâs coffers continue to grow, and with McConnellâs lunatic move, her contributions are already spiking up quickly.
