Kabuki in the real war on women and the poor.
Excellent work, Republicans, after lo these many years you finally have a repeal Obamacare bill that will make it to the President’s desk and promptly be vetoed.
Please proceed …
Republicans continue to demonstrate their governing expertise…Poor chicken:
“Senate OKs Bill To Repeal Obamacare, Defund Planned Parenthood”
All that’s going on in the world right now.Not only do these folks(GOP) live in a vacuum they live in the cleaner.
Hmm… I thought Kelly Ayotte was going to vote against this because she’s up for reelection in NH. I think that will mean one less Republican in the Senate after 2016.
“They’ve never been in a position where they want to change it and fix the law, it’s either repeal or nothing,” Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., who heads the Senate Democratic campaign committee, said of the GOP’s failure to propose an alternative health law. "I’ll take that to the polls and we’ll talk about it until the cows come home."
All day, Senator! This is a gift. The only Democrat facing any real challenge in the Senate next year is Bennet in CO. Everyone else should pretty much cruise to reelection, and the seats being vacated by retirements are probably relatively safe, particularly Mikulski and Boxer’s (damn, I’m gonna miss those great women!), but even Reid’s seat might be safe considering Sandoval isn’t running. We also have real opportunities for some pick-ups with Toomey, Johnson, Kirk, Ayotte, Rubio (retiring), possibly Portman, Coates (retiring w/Baron Hill running) and a few more. 2016 could shape up for Democrats much like 2014 did for Republicans.
Under these circumstances, why would anyone think it a good idea to go on record defunding PP and repealing Obamacare, particularly in states that accepted the Medicaid expansion? And a lot of these folks in either open or possible pick up seats will be running against women. Mitch McConnell is a very intelligent turtle, but I do not see how this is a strategy that does anything other than get a few of them through a primary only to lose the general election.
I’m sure the thank-you note from the “pro-life” Colorado Springs multiple-murderer is on its way. Only question is whether it arrives before the thank-you notes from ISIS and Al Qaeda for voting against preventing suspected terrorists from buying guns.
I’m with Sen. Tester of Montana. As long as Democrats pound them on this legislative attack on the health and welfare of the American people, Republicans are going to lose votes and in a big way. Surely even the benighted group of middle-aged white people who have been shown in a study to be at risk of worsening health outcomes may connect the dots. Republican legislators are killing them.
Let’s hope that Ayotte, Portman and Toomey end up fucking themselves.
Gawd I hope you’re right.
With a capitol F —
This is what strong, decisive leadership in the face of raising radical Islamic terror looks like! Faced with fake GOP-whipped-up crisis, the Right in the Senate responds by doing what they’ve wanted to do for years- pass a bill to kill Obamacare and defund PP.Meanwhile, people who can’t board an airplane because they are on the terror watchlist can still by as many guns as they want or need. TURDS!
“We’ve reached a pretty scary time in our nation’s history where we have Americans writing and calling their elected representatives saying they need relief from their own government,” said No. 2 Senate Leader John Cornyn of Texas.
The part of government we need relief from is Congress, and particularly people like you John.
Yea the IGM-FU (I got mine, fuck you) crowd strikes again… and how much did that vote cost us the taxpayer.
Merry Christmas
the Republican gift for the unwashed masses…
bonus gift…
the NRA is allowed to continue to sell weapons to people on the Suspected Terrorists list
It being NH, Ayotte largely depends on out-of-state funding of her re-election campaign, and an almost entirely volunteer in-state GOP GOTV organization, many of whom wouldn’t work for her re-election if she’d voted against. This way, when Ayotte loses to Hassan, IF Trump/Rubio/Cruz wins she gets work in the next administration, and if not, she’s in good standing for wingnut welfare.
This is okay because the more the Republicans cry and howl about this veto, the more they piss off those middle-of-the-road voters who overwhelmingly support what PP does in our society. Yep. Go ahead and do make a stinky over this, Republicans – in an election year, nonetheless. This is the exact sort of action that pushes those same middle-of-the-roaders to the left … you know, when you go all Nazi-conservative on social issues.
