Discussion: Senate Leaders Signal Willingness To Stick O'Care Mandate Repeal In Tax Bill

They want to make the bill even less popular than it already is!

Way to go, fellas.

They were already taking money from the poor to hand to the ultra wealthy. Now theyā€™re taking money from the sick to hand to the ultra wealthy.

Whatā€™s next? Maybe take money from the dead to give to the ultra wealthy? Just another attempt at multi-millionaire oligarch welfare.

What stage of Boehneritis is this? Heā€™s including a measure he knows canā€™t pass and that will only hurt the final billā€™s chance of success simply to soothe the egos of a bunch of assholes.

I have a different suggestion for where they can stick it.

Stick whatever you want on to the Senate tax bill; it isnā€™t leaving the station. gop wonā€™t have 50 votes.

Is McConnel playing multidimensional chess here? Does he want to stick it to Drumpf and get nothing done at all this year? I canā€™t imagine this poison pill helping the Senateā€™s tax bill.

Collins has already begun the process of lowering expectations, which would work with a president who cared about anything other than catchphrases and spectacle. Any effort to lessen the cut to corporate tax rates or leave the estate tax as is and heā€™ll go ballistic (perhaps literally).

This wonā€™t cause a loss of votes of the tax cuts for the rich group. And it might gain a few votes from those that are otherwise concerned about the debt and deficits. But, FFS, Iā€™d get tired of sticking a needle in my eye every couple of months.

We can only dream. The ballistic part. I do agree: McConnell seems to want the bill to fail.

Humming along smoothly! Doinā€™ great! Definitely actually going to deliver on seven years of promises this time!

Heā€™s very likely to see that wish fulfilled.

Oooooooo, I ā€œlikeā€ thatā€¦Repeal the Estate ā€œDeathā€ Tax on estates over $1,000,000 and ADD a death tax to ā€œestatesā€ less than $1,000,000 of 100% up to $1,000,000. Thatā€™ll get 'em the extra votes!

Or as Ryan continually refers to it, a ā€œonce-in-a-generation chanceā€ to rub a Trump family tax cut in the faces of hungry children and sick seniors.

Agreed. I wonder if thatā€™s why theyā€™re adding it in. They know itā€™s going to fail, so they can just load it up with bullshit that makes the far right happy and then they can say, ā€œFolks, we tried.ā€

Iā€™ll bet that every penny of the $300 million ā€œsavingsā€ is used for larger tax cuts on corporations or the wealthy. The repeal of the mandate would open up avenues to bring the Senate and House bills closer together.

I hope they donā€™t read this!

I feel like weā€™d have a lot more luck whipping up popular resistance to the middle class tax increase/lower class health care theft/billionaire giveaway if all the clever fuckers stopped chortling about how impossible it is that any of this stuff would ever actually succeed in passing.

It can succeed. It is succeeding. Get on the phones. And never ever listen to anyone who tells you itā€™s over. Itā€™s over when we get at least one chamber back. Not before.

Raise taxes on lots of people to give money to the ultra wealthy and corporations, and as a bonus remove health care for 13 million Americans. And then, lie about it constantly to convince Americans that it is actually good for them. It really makes you wonder how these people can consider themselves patriots, when every action they take is meant to harm the average American citizen.

Ok so this is the bill that cannot fail. It already screws everyone but the wealthy blatantly enough to make it unpassable. So they jam this dead fish in there becauseā€¦

They all hate their jobs?
