Discussion: Senate Judiciary Committee Approves Trump's FBI Director Nomination

Did Donnie try to make him sign anything beforehand?

Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa praised Wray, who promised at his hearing last week to never let politics get in the way of the bureau’s mission.

Grasshopper is willfully naive.

After last night’s outburst, it’s even more important than ever that a new FBI director understand where he stands in the scheme of things, which is not as Trump’s dogsbody. While always a serious responsibility, his function will be even more crucial now with a president looking for “loyalty” and protection. Can the full Senate inquire further, or is this just a yes/no situation at this point?

Since the 1920s, the FBI has been supervised by the Department of Justice and the FBI Director has answered to the Attorney General. The Director briefed the President on any issues that arose from within the FBI until the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 was enacted following the September 11 attacks. Since then, the Director reports to the Director of National Intelligence, who in turn reports to the President. [Wikipedia]

The thought of anyone appointed by Trump to be in our gov’t, let alone at the top of a major agency such as the FBI, for longer than the duration of Trump’s term is truly frightening. I don’t trust Wray one bit and that only way I will is if he operates 100% separately from Trump and with 100% support of the Muehller investigation and it’s potential prosecutions.
