Discussion: Senate Intel Chair Says He Has Not Coordinated With WH On Russia Probe

That it his coordination is even a question is indicative of how much our political system has devolved in less than 100 days.

More proof that Senators are the adults of the group. I don’t even trust Burr - but at least he knows what the hell he’s talking about (and how things work) once in a while.

Devin Nunes wouldn’t last one day as a Senator.

Devin Nunes wouldn’t last one day flipping burgers at a Burger King.

He would enjoy some free onion rings, though - and who could blame him? They’re delicious there…

I watched the press conference and I must say I was impressed. Maybe I’m naive, but I genuinely believe they’re going to follow the truth no matter where it goes. If Mark Warner’s behavior is any indication, he believes it too and sees a lot of blood in the water.

I watched some of it too and sounded to me like Flynn was interviewed by the committee. Did you get that sense? It would explain his silence and his attorneys silence.

GOPer’s lips are moving. You know what that means.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) said Wednesday that he has not coordinated with the White House on the panel’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election.

Well thank dog!

Meanwhile…

Both Burr and Warner cautioned that the investigation was not to be rushed. Also, they want to see raw intelligence. I thought they both seemed on the same page but someone else who watched should chime in.

We’ll know tomorrow. My prediction: The first question out of Burr’s mouth will be about leaks. Hope I’m wrong.

There are some people out there whose faces are just screaming nothing but “I’m an idiot” and Nunes is definitely one of them.

Same here.

Sally Yates WILL testify before this committee and there’s not a damn thing the White House can do to stop her.

Some posters from NC (IIRC @ncsteve) said the other day Burr is a type of politician who does anything and everything for his or her own political survival so ditching PeePee wouldn’t be so difficult for the guy if needed.

Just some time ago Burr was one of those enlisted by the White House to counter the story on Trump & Co’s Russia contacts. The Russia stories have developed since with more drips and more shoes dropped. If Burr takes his job seriously there, that’s an indication of in what direction he and his Senate GOP colleagues feel the wind blowing.

That won’t bother me a bit. Look, he’s still a Republican and to some extent he has to flack for his party. The partisan divide in this country is such that everyone has to throw their base a little red meat. What matters to me is if he let’s the investigation continue unobstructed. In the meantime, a few questions about leaks won’t bother me.

IOW, Burr: “I won’t turn myself into a national laughing stock to curry favor with the WH”
