Discussion: Senate GOPer: I'm 'Very Concerned' About Russian Interference In Elections

Trump just named Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as his secretary of state. This guy stands to make countless millions, probably billions off Russian oil if the sanctions are lifted. LOL!

It’s official we are now a kleptocracy. Profiteering comes first, national interests second.

It’s a sad state of affairs when Lindsey Graham is the only sane Republican left in the government.

Jason Chaffetz would look into it, but he’s too busy investigating Hillary Clinton’s email.

If nothing else, it seems we now have an infallible litmus test for distinguishing patriots from the pathologically partisan in the GOP.

The man is in very deep with Putin as well. He was described as the American that has the most face to face time with Putin alive today…with the possible exception of Kissinger. He even was awarded the Russian Friendship award by Putin not too long ago.

This will be the one that people like Graham and McCain will cross party lines to join with Democrats denying appointment.

I’m starting to wonder about the possibility of a number of anti-Russian Republicans in Congress actually leaving the GOP in protest. You never know. This could be the tipping point for a half dozen or so GOP Senators who hate the Russians, hate Donald Trump and are increasingly disillusioned with the flat out nihilism of their Party’s leadership. Who knows, anything’s possible these days.

relaaax! He’s going to drain the swamp! And then refill it with bigger scumbags, but still…

we truly are fucked. Like royally fucked. bent over, with no lube, kind of fucked. Bolton as undersecretary? This is a man who advocated to invade Iran. Why not get at their oil supply to boot? I’m very grateful my little cousin (who is much bigger than I am) is out of the military now. He was a Marine. Because a lot of our boys and girls are going to die in The Rapist administration. The drums of war are beating.

Sen. Graham says, “I’m not challenging the outcome of the election,” I would think that he should be very concerned about the legitimacy of the election! If, as our intelligence sources are now telling us, Russia was deliberately releasing stolen information from the Democratic campaign, and perhaps protecting information stolen from the Republican campaign, then they clearly had their finger on the scale. Add to that what we now see in Trump’s welcoming back Paul Manafort, a known consiglieri for the Russians; his imminent appointment of a Secretary of State who has been honored by the Russian government and is engaged in very extensive business dealings with the Russian Government and Putin; and his numerous other imminent appointments of incompetents and others whose track records are completely antithetical to the jobs for which they will be considered. Trump is either deliberately working to dismantle the American government and destroy the country or he is clearly demonstrating his inability to grasp the enormous responsibilities of the office. Add to that his refusal to conform to the requirements of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, his seeming willingness to violate his contract with the GSA for his Washington Hotel, his obvious lack of concern for all his other clear conflicts of interest, and his clear loss of the popular vote, there is no way that Trump should ever be the President.

Sen. Graham. I am glad that you are concerned about Russian interference, but I would hope you would be more concerned with the potentially disastrous consequences of that interference.

Electoral College members: are you paying attention? Read your Hamilton (Hint: Federalist Papers #68)

GOP: We know CIA has been always wrong. They said Hillary’s emails may have been criminal and it didnt happen. They told us to go to Iraq because WMDs were there. That didnt happen either. CIA only works well when it implicates Democrats.

Something tells me there would be many more of them that were “very concerned” if this interference led to Clinton winning.

It will take a while, but I hope that eventually people will pay attention to the very real possibility that Trump is a FSB asset. In this rare case the old age of senators is a plus. They should actually remember the cold war.

I have to say, TCN, I’m hopeful this can be hung around Trump’s and the GOP’s necks like an anvil. But this is what I expect to happen to Obama deep investigation.

  1. A massive propaganda disinformation blitz by the GOP to spread doubt and confusion.
  2. A docile and pusilanimous press goes along with it in order to gain comity with, and access to, Trump by accentuating the doubt and dismissive of evidence.
  3. Repeated attempts by the GOP to sand-dbag
  4. A tepid compromise, consensus report to Obama that hints at wrongdoing but fails to make any unequivocal conclusions owing to “sensitive classified information.”
  5. General agreement by the GOP, Trump and the press that that settles it then.

YOu may well be right—but I doubt that Obama will allow such a mealy-mouthed response at this juncture.
