Since most of you are more on top of this than me:
How many current Senators are there that were Senators when the PPACA passed?
I know Blunt voted against the PPACA, but he was a Rep. not a Sen.
*Extra credit if someone knows how many Reps that are in the current Congress voted for or against the PPACA.
Iām just wondering if there is anyone currently serving that knows how compromise and doing complex legislation are suppose to work.

Thanks this is helpful. Not many good options for McConnell. If it is skinny repeal with amendments,no one knows what those amendments are. For those of us without subsidies, the premiums in the individual market could be brutal.

Six months? The GOPers have had 7 years to get it together on healthcare and they havenātā¦ they canāt. The ideas in the ACA are republican in their origin. So they own it. Itās their albatross.

McConnell gets his bill which placates the base of the party. But, it dies in āreconciliation committeeā which takes until the mid-terms are over.
Itās all about bullshitting long enough to make sure your party stays in power.

Iām not sure this flowchart is correct about what the process may be if the Senate manages to pass a bill. The graphic shows any Senate bill going straight to the House and āquicklyā getting an up or down vote, with repeal passing or failing at that point. And yes, that could happen, the Senate could send the bill to the House and the House could give it a quick up or down vote.
But it was my understanding that the likely outcome in the Senate was to pass a āskinny repealā placeholder bill and take that to a House-Senate conference committee to try to hammer out a bill that both the House and Senate GOP would then have to vote up or down on.
Itās not clear to me how the conference committee is supposed to come up with a bill that can pass both chambers, if the Senate has already rejected the House bill, and couldnāt agree on any real bill of their own ā but as I understand it, thatās the plan.
So Iām not sure why they donāt include the conference committee process in this flowchart.

I dunno. I think they pass something because they have to show they did something. It will of course be awful and they know it, but they feel that doing nothing will make them look even worse. I think they will look like turds either way.myself.

For this to come back to haunt Republicans, Democrats need to recruit and nominate inspiring yet competent candidates up and down the ballot. Otherwise too many Democrats will stay home, consequences be damned.

The GOP Health Care problem is that no one has yet come up with an alternative program that will allow more people to be insured, at a lower cost, for equally good health care insurance. Sure, there are single payer alternatives that would be better, but those would enrage the GOP base, as well as the mouth breathing Trump base members. Therefore, this is an unsolvable problem at this time. People who put the interests of our citizens ahead of the interest of the very wealthy and their corporations would work on the incremental improvements in the ACA that would stand the best chance of being of lasting value. But, never in the past 20 years have Republicans had any intention of putting the interest of our citizens ahead of that of our very wealthy, and now they also seem to put the interest of Putin ahead of that of our citizens. Sad, bigly sad.

To be fair, heās right about thatā¦no president has ever pulled the kind of stuff that he has, and no administration has tried to tear the nation down as much as his has. Trump will definitely make the history books, the question is if he will just be the worst president, or the last one.
