Discussion: Senate Dems Threaten Government Shutdown Over Miners Benefits

Here’s the thing…A whole lot more people are going to get fucked over in ways far worse than miners only having their health insurance extended for four months. Part of the reason for that is because Democrats spend so much capital protecting people from their own bad decisions, fighting Republicans and trying to keep them from screwing over their own voters. Maybe it’s time for us to stop doing that, maybe it’s time people were forced to live with the consequences of their own actions. Maybe if we got the hell out of the way folks might be able to see who their real enemies are and who are their allies because they’re never, ever going to see it if we keep shielding them from the truth. You can call it a vendetta, I call it consequences.

Excellent point actually.

Thanks for making it.

Do you remember when early in Obama’s administration he suggested that people keep their tires inflated because it would lead to better gas mileage and the rightwing noise that followed mocking him? He’s always been the trouble maker

The problem with this, Blue, is that it’s never clear what information the trumpsters hear. If they get their news from Fox and Friends, and InfoWars, and Breitbart, and the gazillions of other lying sacks of shit, they will blame the Dems. Leaving the miners to their just rewards certainly feels good, but I’m still not sure it’s the right thing to do.

By the way, whatever happened to the Mad Dog waiver? Not so important, I guess.

It just comes so trippingly off the tongue.

During the 2008 campaign. The beginning of the era of active hostility and derision of real fact.

The election of Barrack Obama in 2008 was the start of this civil war.

Hardcore trumpsters will be the last people to ever acknowledge it’s their own party screwing them over with the help of orangina because of their news sources. But they won’t be able to blame Obama and Democrats since we’ll have receded into the background.

Sorry, but there’s so much more causing agita chez blue I’d shoved the Mad Dog waiver to the back of the line.

Someone should remind the Republicans that their party is allegedly “pro-coal.”

It began with Reagan in 1980—but 2008 accelerated it to warp speed.

It’s that simple and that complicated at the same time.

Yeah I agree. The roots of it go all the way back to the beginning and there are many rootlets.

I knew we were in big trouble when they all got away with Iran Gate.

How, pray tell, is it lying?
Have we heard anything from her and hers since her concession speech?
has she challenged any of the vote counts?
has she fought for the Michigan recount?
Has she shown any effort to help mitigate the disaster she enabled by giving the presidentcy to drumpf?
Has she protected her own net valuue?
has she maintained her membership in “polite” society by not causing a scene?
where exactly has she shown any inclination to stand up for the people she scammed into supporting her because She was the ONE who could beat drumpf?
Show me where I am lying before you throw random accusations around in an attempt to defend the indefensible.

I’m not sure where your image of the Democratic Party as an army of Christian soldiers ever fighting for only the good and just things comes from, but it’s not one I subscribe to. They’re a bunch of human beings with flawed intentions, morality and follow through in many cases (just like the rest of us), and I’m sure someone with your political recall needs no recitation of the list of Democratic Party failures to carry the banner high.

Still, they’re a helluva lot better than the Republicans, and this is what makes the difference, and it’s a substantial difference, but leave the hagiography out of it please.

It’s gone.

Right, if democrats are going to take the heat for and spend political capital on shutting down the government let’s at least do it on the behalf of a constituency that actually votes to support Democrats, I’m pretty sure there will be a couple of those needing that expenditure not long after Mr. Stumpyfingers takes office.
