Discussion: Sen. Rob Portman Pulls His Endorsement Of Donald Trump

Another example of exemplary leadership from a White Republican who has a gay son.

Yep. Pence is their backdoor man.
Keep it coolin’, baby.

“While I continue to respect those who still support Donald Trump, I can no longer support him. I continue to believe our country cannot afford a Hillary Clinton presidency. I will be voting for Mike Pence for President.”

A “profile in courage”, delivered late on a Saturday night when he hopes nobody’s looking.

I continue to believe our country cannot afford a Hillary Clinton presidency. I will be voting for Mike Pence for President.

What does this even mean? That you are going to defeat Crooked Hillary with a write in campaign? Because, it’s super important she loses, right? And that’s going to totally work.

Or does it mean you are going to vote for Pence for VP? And pretend you didn’t just vote for Donald?

Seems like you got nuthin’. You are fucked because you are a spineless GOPer. Resign now.

How can you respect the voters who support someone you don’t respect? The rhetorical gymnastics the Party of Trump are performing are just astonishing.

The Republican Party managed to nominate a sexual predator for President. Just think about that for a second.

Something is drastically wrong in that party that will not be fixed with a few unendorsements.

What is wrong, well, that would mean writing a book.

You can’t vote for Mike Pence and not Trump. That’s the 12th amendment to the constitution or haven’t you read it.

He can if he writes in Pence.

Ok, this is getting weird and seems somewhat contrived. How is Portman going to vote for Pence? As a write in candidate. Write in candidates have to go through an official process in order to be counted- at least in California they do. I am not sure about other states. I don’t know if someone can be on the ballot as a party’s VP candidate and also an official write in for Prez.

It is almost as if the GOP “elites” decided that if Trump couldn’t win by a specific date, they were going to pull the plug on his campaign and focus on congressional races. And it appears that they do plan to sever the joint funding agreement with Trump’s campaign. Wonder if Trump will sue them.

The Trumpies are pissed. They didn’t trust the “elites” to begin with, so how is this going to help? Polling must have shown that the GOP was sure to lose the Senate and this is an attempt to prevent it, but I don’t see how it will succeed. The Trumpies I know aren’t buying it. They still support Trump. And the evangelicals are still fooled about those Supreme Court nominations. Trump will probably lose the election with undecideds going to Clinton or 3rd party, but how will this help the GOP hold the senate? The Trumpies could turn on the GOP elites running for Senate and punish them.

At what point will we have one of our alleged journalists make a timeline demonstrating all the stuff that the GOTPers were just fine with?

i’m laughing at ted cruz. had he held out a few more weeks, he could have looked like an angel by maintaining his position in not endorsing trump, but he made another political calculation to reverse his position and he will probably have to reverse it again…

oh, life is good!!!

Can’t be. Cruz taking yet another pie in the face is just further evidence that he’s THE SMARTEST MAN EVER.

He can write in Pence, but his vote won’t be counted.

Pence isn’t listed among the candidates who filed a statement of intent 72 days prior to the election. I verified using the sample write-in ballot from the Franklin County (OH) Board of Elections.
