Can he hold both offices at the same time?

…just as soon as the SenateSonsOfMitches pass the law!

The answer to his question (if they can do it in other states, why would we want to punish someone from our state?) is very easy. Each state gets to have its own laws! The people of Kentucky through their duly elected representatives have chosen to enact all manner of laws that differ from those in the other states – it’s called federalism! If you don’t like the law, you need to change it, not evade it.

created his own certification board and certified himself.

Unable was he ere he met Elbanu…

And he’s certainly certifiable!

I love it when you speak palindrome…

and equal voting rights.

Dr. Paul seems to think that you can get white and red wine out of the same bottle although since he’s from Kentucky we probably need to save different bourbon blends. His definition of libertarianism is essentially that rules don’t apply to him, similar to the famous remark by the late Queen of Mean Leona Helmsley that only little people pay taxes.

If Rand Paul thinks he can run in Kentucky for two offices at the same time, he is in the minority. Of course, he’s the number one defender of minorities.

Its too bad the media doesn’t give this asshole the look he deserves. Running for both offices is more of the spoiled brat crap that Paul has demonstrated throughout his life. He should have it all. He plagiarizes with abandon but he should be able to do that and walk away from it. He makes up medical qualification but he’s entitled to that.

Paul is such an ass wipe. It just pisses me of that Kentuckians foisted this shit on the rest of us. That idiot is part of our Senate…he has power over us.

“The Constitution set the requirements for eligibility for office that
states can’t modify for federal office; they can modify for state
office, but I think that’s actually a case that could be won, but it’s
also just a fairness issue,” Paul said. “You know, there’s two dozen
people who have run for both offices, both presidency and a local office
in their state, and I think people, if they were presented with the
idea of fairness, would say, you know what, why would we punish someone
who’s from our state versus someone who’s from Connecticut or Wisconsin
or Texas?”

An excellent argument for federalizing all election law for federal office, including voting rights. Perhaps he could sponsor a bill.

Isn’t it funny that “fairness” is what’s best for him? What a fucking baby that asshole is.

But if wins both, then the state has to pay for another election immediately or does the DEM loser get the seat if Paul is Pres?

but if that happened i would be living in Finland anyway

I guess you should have read the fine print before you moved to Kentucky you carpetbagger.

The question of legality notwithstanding - what a display of self-confidence regarding your presidential bid, Randy!

At first glance, I wouldn’t think that the law is legal. I think qualifications for federal office are set by federal law, not state law. That’s why state term limits don’t apply to federal senators and congressmen.

But even if the law were legal, couldn’t he just refrain from getting on the primary Presidential ballot in Kentucky? If he is strong enough to win the nomination he could do it without carrying Kentucky in the primary.

But it won’t matter, Mitt Romney is going to win the Republican nomination. I believe that Rand Paul is disqualified as a choice in voters minds.

Well, to be fair, he is only vilifying his own state. Smart politics, there.

…ere he saw

So what else is new. I believe he’d also support a Constitutional Marriage amendment as well, as would pretty much every states-rights idgit in his party.
