That’s quite impressive, since Hatch has been a public servant since 1977. He must really pinch his pennies, and be a wise investor.
But, as a mere millionaire, he obviously deserves the sympathies of all of us…he’s obviously too old to die a billionaire.
It may not be PC, but it is the truth.
“Let’s face it, once you get them on the dole, they’ll take every dime they can,” Hatch said, as quoted by CNN. “We’ve got to find some way of getting things under control or this country and your future is going to be gone.”
So now health care is “the dole?”
And gee, I wonder what kind of people he had in mind when he said “them?”
Meanwhile, the whole notion is pure rubbish. I have known plenty of people who avoided taking public assistance despite being more than qualified and plenty more who took only what they absolutely needed and only for as long as they couldn’t possibly avoid doing so.
Yeah, sure, there will always be some folks who take advantage of every penny they are qualified for (and perhaps some that they are not really qualified for, if they can get away with it) and will do so as long as possible. But that is a small portion of those receiving help, and an even smaller portion when you include all those who could be receiving help but never apply for it.
Well, if I were on Medicaid I’d certainly be loading up on all the cancer, hypertension, and diabetes I could get! Don’t want to waste any of that sweet free government chemo and dialysis!
Public “Will Take Every Dime They Can”
Spoken like a man who lionizes the accomplishments of the private sector, sneers at the potential of governance, and has been elected seven times.
But that’s only his “public” net worth. You can probably count on a whole lot of illegal “off-shore” activity. IOKIYAR…
Hypocrisy, thy name is “GOP.”
Umm…Orrin? Just cause YOU’VE been sucking off the public tit for more than four decades does not mean all of us are. Me, I’d just like to pay my medical bills and not lose my house.
Besides…can you tell all of us what’s wrong with getting every nickel you’re entitled to?
What a fking ahole. I mean really. Hey Orrin? Do you have any FKING idea who pays that money IN? How about your SALARY? You are such a jerk. RETIRE already. We are tired of your Mr. ‘GET OFF MY LAWN’ Wilson act.
Interesting. 9 posts in history. Post today is the first since November, 2014. Wonder if someone remembered an old account and password?
Well, according to Markwayne down in Oklahoma, we don’t pay his salary. He’s paid so much in taxes that he pays himself. I guess Orrin thinks we don’t pay his either.
Once all those Medicaid useless eaters are off the rolls, pig hatch and the GOP can go after all those freeloaders mooching off the government through the VA,
What about Corporate Welfare, Orrin?
Hey Asshole Orin, do highly profitable corporations or incredibly rich multimillionare/billionaires ever turn their nose up at your hand outs to them?
The leeches you are so fond of looking out for “will take every dime they can from government” and my fucking pocket, and will work day and night not to give me anything of value inreturn.
way to make the rest of us pick up your donors’ tax breaks, rich get richer with you behind the wheel
dickhead
THEY’RE OUR DIMES, YOU GIGANTIC ASSHOLE.
more words because TPM doesn’t value precision.
How long has this old fart been sucking off the public teat?
Since 1976. Forty-one (41) sucking years. And he is worth approx. $5 million. Sen. Hatch moves to the number one position on my list of people who should be buggered with a Garden Weasel. For now. I am certain one of his colleagues or someone in the horror show that is the White House will displace him soon. This people are despicable, greedy, and compliant whores of the oligarchy. And just dreadful humans*. I think karma is on holiday.
P.S. Here is the Garden Weasel for the non-gardening folks:
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) on Tuesday said the public will “take every dime they can” from government programs like health care.
What’s wrong with that? It’s their country.
“We’ve got to find some way of getting things under control or this country and your future is going to be gone.”
He is such a little dickens.
“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.”—from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol
Medicaid covers about 60% of nursing facilities costs so not only will the most reliable voting base, the elderly, be energized so will their children.
Somebody needs to say to Hatch, “You mean people want all the economic help they can get unlike corporations who want all the economic help they can get. Shouldn’t welfare for Fortune 500 corporations get cut before welfare for Maw Maw?”
Well, given that they are our dimes in the first place, I think we have a right to decide how they get spent, Orin.
