Discussion: Secret Service Says It Does Not Have Complete Mar-A-Lago Visitor Logs

Is there a separate pen and book for people who log in with the Cyrillic alphabet?

The Secret Service could take some advice from Trump’s friend, Bill Belichick: DO YOUR JOB.

“there is no system for keeping track of Presidential visitors at Mar-a-Lago…"

I assume the SS is tasked with vetting "Presidential visitors", at least to the degree they're assured the person is not an obvious security risk, is not armed, is not under the influence of dangerous drugs or hallucinogens, etc. The typical "We can't be getting pinned for Trump's sorry ass getting hurt or killed" concerns. So, something is written down somewhere to make a record of the fact due diligence was performed on visitors. Where are those records? Admitting you don't document your due diligence is in and of itself an admission of gross negligence.

I suspect that this is going to be developing story, especially as focus spreads to other venues such as a certain New Jersey golf course.

And if they did think they had the logs, they would be “strategically falsified” anyway. As in “Sneakin’ Sally through the Alley”
@david_e_brown : You are referring to the “Beds of Bedminster”, I trust.

I’m not the best at software design, but this one is really not that hard. Start off by opening an Excel spreadsheet. Enter all names of people registering at Merde-a-Grifto. Compare names to membership logs of club. Names not eliminated in cross-reference are probably “guests.”

Gives a good start.

Trump’s been keeping the White House logs secret for months. Why would he bother with them at his weekend retreats?

This! Wouldn’t the Secret Service vet everyone who was about to meet the President? And wouldn’t the first step in getting be recording their name and adddress?

This sounds like utter BS or alternatively, it sounds like the SS is doing a piss poor job protecting Trump (the latter isn’t that unreasonable. The SS has some terrible scandals uncovered during the Obama years).

This might just be another part of Donnie Dotard’s Downfall. Unlike truly rich people, his weekend “houses” are resorts. (He’s basically running an upper income B&B). As hotel resorts, records are there.

No one would ever be able to reconstruct the guest lists of Mar-a-Lago when it was owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post. She had enough money to operate the house as a private residence, and didn’t have to rent out the spare bedrooms.

Credit card receipts would be another way to track people at Tramp properties because we can be sure that Tramp doesn’t “treat” or “comp” anyone when there’s a buck to be made!

Perhaps the Secret Service should ask Mueller for the records. He probably has them.

Then maybe the Grifter’s Mar-a-Lago can’t be used as an executive residence and they can quit scamming the government for costs and protection for everyone there…

“Merde-a-Grifto!” Love it.

Why not just use pen and one of those visitor books you see an funerals? (Clearly, more than that is beyond the Trumpists.)

My guess, parsing the language carefully, is that there are different logbooks, likely one for each entrance and each class of visitor, and that they’re not collected or collated or even stored on a consistent basis. And that it would be a Terrible Invasion of Privacy for the secret service simply to go through everyone who came to the place and find out whether they visited the president.

It’s only a problem if Obama did it, so all good.

This story exposes a massive security vulnerability to the Presidency. CoS J. Kelly needs to shut down the Mar-a-lago scene immediately. Either close the public side or move the President elsewhere. Stat.

So how does the Secret Service clear people to be in proximity of the President? They’re lying.
