Maybe, but it seems from that incident last week this is considered a real no-no felony in D.C. If all they do is keep the gun heās lucky, thatād be like a $600 fine.
Maybe they get real casual about carrying pistols in those guns-anywhere states, but for Godās sake, every public building in D.C. has very tight security, itās like one big airport, screenings and checkpoints everywhere. You canāt be unaware of it.
ETA if the gun was loaded, heās looking at a felony. Up to five years and/or $5,000.

I well-deserved sentence, and probably heāll lose his license the practice veterinary medicine, too. Heās a DVM, doctor of veterinary medicine, was he going there with his gun to perform āmercy killingsā on some of the pigs in Congress?

Because, um, well, maybe because some people who pass laws want to be safe and canāt have a gun on them in Congress?
