Discussion: SCOTUS Strikes Down Abortion Clinic 'Buffer' Zone

Here is how we could stop this:

Find Scalia’s church, or Alito’s, or whoever’s. Form a phalanx of protestors outside screaming “no more child rape!”

See how long it takes them to stop that.

So that means is ok to push them forcefully out of your way, right? Or spit back on them, or do some of the same shitty things these hypocrites do?

Because it’s hard to throw acid on people from a distance …

They have a 100 ft buffer zone for themselves though.

Hypocrites .

This is completely fucked up. It isn’t as if the “protesters” voices aren’t being heard. Now they’ll be able to get up in women’s faces and physically intimidate them as well.

God, I wish Roberts et al would get hit by a meteor.

Was that sarcasm, or just rank, willful ignorance?

A little over 25 years ago, I helped a young woman who was a recovering drug addict, alcoholic 18 year old with transportation to get an abortion. She knew she was neither fit mentally or physically to go through a pregnancy or raise a child. When we got there the protesters had not yet arrived, but when we left four big men, one pushing an empty stroller blocked my car and started calling her everything in the book for having the abortion and refused to move. they called me a variety of filthy names, until I stopped my car and got out and confronted them. I asked these creeps which one of them would take on a crack addicted baby, or one with fetal alcohol syndrome or one with birth defects, and when no one spoke up, I told them exactly what I thought of cowards who think that they own a woman’s body and can force her to be nothing more than breeding cattle to serve their male egos. I then told them to move or I would run them over like the killer they called me. I got back in the car, turned on the ignition and started moving forward. At first they would not move, but when they realized I meant exactly what I said, they scattered like the bullying cowards they are.

I remember the days of illegal, back alley abortions. I remember the mental anguish of my daughter when she had an abortion because there was not way she could care to two children under a year old if she went through with it, physically, mentally, or financially, since the father was not working and she could not. I remember the way women died for lack of proper medical care, and remember that we are a nation based on personal freedoms. Apparently that is not the case with the SCOTUS, and to allow these religious fanatics access again to people who are getting medical care, whether it is an abortion or not they do not care, is inexcusable. I wonder how many will have to die because they turned back in fear of these maniacs. I wonder how many children will be born who cannot be cared for by mothers and become foster children. I wonder how many children will be the victims of child abuse because of over stressed parents. And I know exactly where all these fanatics will be - forcing other women to die or give birth to unwanted children while they sit at home or in their churches patting themselves on the back for having blocked those women from medical care.

I truly wish that SCOTUS and its “compassionate conservatives” had to give birth and see just how much they like it. I truly wish that these “non-activist” judges would just resign and tell the American people that they lied to get their appointments and deserve to be sent to prison for all the harm they have caused. I just wish for better from the highest court in the land - but that is just wishful thinking for a court designed to uphold the worst policies and politicians of this nation, not its Constitution. Maybe if it understood the Constitution, they would understand that no one’s free speech rights were abridged, only their ability to physically abuse and deny others their right to freedom of action. I guess that no longer is allowed in this nation, so women will continue to be intimidated and lied to by these hypocritical religious bullies.

This was a 9-0 decision, so factor that into your contempt of the motives of the justices.

…so

If a pro-lifer quietly brandishes weapons…

That 's ok.

Got it.

Perhaps women going to a clinic should carry mace, to protect themselves when they are accosted?

I know…I can perhaps rationalize the theoretical “public spaces” justification (though plenty of folks here have pointed out the various holes in that reasoning in this case); but I’m surprised that Ginsberg at least didn’t even see fit to write a concurring opinion of some kind. I heard a legal analyst wonder if there wasn’t some horse-trading going on wrt the Hobby Lobby case; no idea whether that is at all plausible, but I guess we’ll get a clue soon.
