Roberts’ tossing of the ball back to Congress is what concerns me as well. Hopefully Leahy and dems will be successful in getting the matter before the Congress. Oh wait…there are probably too many gop-bot simpletons remaining in the official body to get anything done. I don’t think Roberts is educable; much less willing to self-evaluate.

But, on another level… SCOTUS seems to really get off on giving the 5th circuit a smackdown. Reading some of the majority decisions when they overturn the 5th circuit one can’t help but think that SCOTUS has a dim opinion of their legal reasoning. Perhaps this is just a case of SCOTUS daring the 5th circuit to do something stupid (again).

And the Republican rich and Democratic rich establishments remain in power.

“if the Court of Appeals doesn’t issue a decision on the pending case by July 20, the parties in the case could ask the Supreme Court again to weigh whether the law should be blocked.”

Seems pretty childish to say that well, you can ask me that question again sometime in the future, and maybe I will give you an answer. Why don’t they just step up to the plate on July 21 and rule on it?

This is why a Sanders supporter should vote for Clinton, the is a huge election because of the
Supreme Court…

ABA Journal, Feb 2014:

…the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals - one of the most controversial, rancorous, DYSFUNCTIONAL, STAUNCHLY CONSERVATIVE and important appellate courts in the country."

And with two long-standing vacancies. There is no reason, historically, with this conservative-packed court, to expect that anything good will come from this them.

They could also ask the court to consider blocking it if there is “any change in circumstances before that date supports further arguments.”

As if there has been no change in circumstances since the Shelby ruling. It didn’t take a week before those “changes” were in place and the GOP was bragging about its ability to block minority voting.
